Fantastic combination of modified, highly regarded rotel amplifiers and beautiful rosewood veneered Cura CA10 Speakers. Purchased 20 years ago and Biamped (not bridged) for 15 years until turning active 6 years ago. Cura was a British startup that made some well regarded mid priced (these were 900 in 1999) speakers. They went bankrupt after 3 years. Possibly due to the high cost of parts and exceptional cabinet quality. The CA10 were the gems in the range. The CA5s were light on base and the larger ca30s were not as cohesive. These were slightly warm but beautifully balanced. 34cm high x25cm deep x 22cm wide. The drivers are very well matched vifa (doped paper base) and seas cloth dome tweeter. Very neutral but not dry. The passive Crossover boards have been removed and drivers soldered directly to the connector with QED Quora silver anniversary (silver plated) Speaker cable and silver solder. Comes with all cabling including 2m pair of QED Quora silver anniversary Speaker cables. The Active Crossover is high quality 3 stage amplifier for each channel using specialist audio op-Amps, low noise resistors and poly film capacitors. Crossover is 2.8khz. The base and treble can be tweaked to get the optimum sound in your room and there is a volume control so this can be used as a pre-amp to control volume directly. Turning the system active tightened up the base and reduced compression at higher volumes. It was a major transformation. The Rotels have been modified on the left channel to provide the correct base shelf frequency to match the cabinet size so will not work with standard speakers. Hence selling as a system. I am an electronics graduate that specialized in HiFi Audio electrical and acoustic engineering (before everything went digital) so you can be confident it sounds really good. Selling reluctantly to make space. I have now purchased some active nearfield midrange Adams monitors to get a similar sound/Quality. Comes with all cables needed as shown in the pictures. Vintage Rotel 713 Stereo Integrated Amplifier in great used condition. The Rotel 713 is a rare circa 70s Integrated amplifier in lovely condition for its age. This is a powerful amplifier yet detailed with great bass timing and punch. Vocals have real character and emotion. Occasional loss of sound when switching between different source inputs - easily corrected when switching back and forth on input Selector Switch. I believe it could need deoxit to clean all contacts and switchgear due to age. Note: I have only connected to the Aux, Tape and Tuner inputs and cannot test the record phono input. Solidly built and heavy with high quality switchgear - Classic VU meters that are a joy to see when playing your favourite music. Condition of sale: UK buyers only. No returns for any reason. Vintage Rotel 713 Integrated Amplifier & Monitor Audio R852/MD Speakers in used condition. This is a great sounding vintage system comprising a Rotel 713 Integrated Amplifier and Monitor Audio R852/MD speakers. The Amplifier has the classic VU meters that are a great to watch as they follow the beat of music. This is a big bold sounding amplifier and punches way above its specs. It produces a proper full range sound...no subwoofers needed. Plenty of sound adjustment switches and buttons (bass/treble/balance/loudness/high pass/low pass etc). Speaker MA R852/MD - designed by the Great British speaker designer Robin Marshall founder of Epos speakers and were highly regarded by the HiFi press back in the day. There are marks, scratches, fading and wear and tear consistent with age. Once the system is playing you dont notice and just enjoy the beauty of the music you are hearing. For full disclosure the sounds fades when you switch to a different inpus using the selector switch (not always and only when selecting an input!) . A turn back and forth of the input selector brings the music back. I think the switches and pots may require a clean using deoxit solution, but I have no electronic skills and dare not mess with something I am not familiar with. I have only connected sources to the Aux, Tape and Tuner inputs. Condition of sale: Collection only from Ruislip in West London. No returns for any reason. On power up when connected to a pair of loudspeakers the amp makes a thump type of noise that translates through the loudspeakers, it then continues to work fine. This problem could be due to age, after all its a vintage piece of HIFI equipment and im sure some of the components will be now out of spec. On testing it performed well for over 6 hours with no more issues present after the initial thump. Just to be clear this is on a sold as is basis no returns UK postage only, please get in contact before bidding if you are outside the mainland UK(islands and highlands) as the postage cost could be slightly more.
