Rogers LS3/5a Speakers 15 Ohm Gold Badge 1974 Brown Cloth Grills 12mm Ply Wood Cabinets No Serial Numbers - A & B Etched On The Back Panel These speakers were originally owned by a BBC engineer who worked at the BBC Design Department at Western House in London. They do not have any serial numbers and just have an A & B simply etched on the back panel. They are believed to be a pre production pair which were sent to the BBC for final approval prior to the BBC licence being granted and before main production got underway. The Speakers have been appraised by LS3/5a.com and after comparing and cross referencing with there large data base of historical technical data on the LS3/5a they have confirmed that the construction and components used in this pair of speakers would indicate that they are one of the very earliest pairs ever made by Rogers in 1974. At some point during the mid to late 1970s the Speakers were given to a family relative as a gift and have spent the last 45 years or so in there living room where they have provided many years of musical pleasure. In full working working condition, the listening experience is balanced and detailed. Condition is as seen in the photos with some expected ageing to the cabinets but overall very good. The Speakers will be very well packed and you will receive them exactly as seen in the photos. Speaker Cabinets 1970s Rogers Transmission Line - TL7 Pro speakers with Xovers Measures (each cab) 98.5cm high, 34.5cm wide, 44.3cm deep_______________________________________________________________ note: Previous ebay buyer was unable to collect the speakers after bidding, thereafter I have another private buyer wanting to arrange pick up at the BIN price - so this listing may be removed at anytime. These cabinets are quite unique - one of Chris Rogers early 1970s TL designs built with Kef drivers and coles supertweeter - Rogers designed other TL designs but then began using other driver units and thereafter did not focus on TLs due to high production costs. Had these running a few years ago and sounded amazing - however drivers were removed to refurbish a pair of Linn speakers - inherited from a family member who was a sound engineer. Fully intended to keep these to upgrade wiring etc but having to downsize property hence sale. Once fully complete and with a bit of TLC - the new owner will have a extremely rare pair of Rogers TLs and a super sounding pair of speakers! The crossovers are present and both super tweeters work fine - see pics. Requires SP1044, B110, T27s to complete.
