This Realistic VSC-2000 portable cassette recorder/player is working 100 % properly and has just been serviced with professional cleaning of erase and record/play heads, capstan, and pressure roller. All functions are working properly, including the Auto Stop at end of tape in record or play mode. It has been tested with normal bias cassette tape type, for which it is designed, in record and play modes, fast-forward, rewind, and pause. This model is licensed to use the Variable Speech Control features, which is used for playback only and can be used on any cassette tape of speech content. It allow a wide range of speeding up and slowing speech. This normally would result in affecting pitch of the voice, with comedic affect, but the VSC design also provides a pitch adjustment that restores pitch to normal. I dont know how it accomplishes the pitch restoration, but it does. The VSC switch needs to be firmly pressed to the left direction to engage, and I was always able to get it to engage in several uses. As you can see in the photo of input and output jacks, this model is equipped to accommodate external mic, including the two-plug types with remote pause control at the mic; headset or external speaker; and line level auxiliary input, separate from mic input. Besides a clean battery compartment that allows operating on 6 C cell alkaline batteries, this recorder has an AC cord powering option, cord provided. For the Realistic enthusiasts, this is a beautiful piece. Very low hours it was used. It has been meticulously cleaned, (didnt have much to clean). Switches and potentiometers have been cleaned and deoxed. Volume sliders treated with fader lube. The volume sliders are so smooth with zero crackling. They are in perfect sync with each other. I know the issues with these sliders and Im truly amazed by their performance. It is spotless inside and out. The faceplate and knobs are brilliant. All functions perform just as they should. The wood case has a couple little nicks on the bottom of the sides, virtually undetectable. This is one of the most pristine pieces Ive come across. She puts out 55 WPC and sounds awesome. I package extremely well and ship FedEx.
