These speakers are in good cosmetic and working condition. They are huge!! Theyre around 5 feet tall and super heavy. It will be local pick up only because of the sizes. They will come with speaker wire for each cabinet and the connector cable. On one of the speakers the side is coming off, I think that happened in transit. Easy repair with some wood glue. Up are a pair of Vintage Polk Audio SDA SRS speakers, both right and left channel. These were part of my father’s hifi system and were originally purchased in the late 80s or early 90s. These preceded the SDA SRS 1.2 and SDA SRS 1.2TL. The system was taken apart in April 2023 and were working at that point. The speakers have been in a cool, climate controlled storage space since and I currently have no way to test so this is an “as-is” sale. Photos are of the speakers up for sale. If you are looking at these, you probably have an idea of how big and heavy these are 5 ft 4 in tall each and 150+ lbs per speaker.

This restoration project took nearly a year with nearly 200 hours invested, and I feel they look and sound spectacular. Do they look brand new??? NOPE, if youre looking for brand new then go to Best Buy, BUT youd never know these are 40 years old. Plus, these sound better than most store bought speakers that you can get today. A lot of it has to do with the expanded sound stage created by the SDA (Stereo Dimensional Array). The restore/repair work consisted of the following: 1- Stripped, stained and applied 6-9 layers of poly to the front, 2 sides and top. High gloss piano finish. 2- Replaced the torn grill fabric, painted the grill frame and added new top-of-the-line grill fabric. 3- Bench tested all drivers and crossovers - All functioning 100%. 4- Patched, sanded and painted the base black 5- Made a custom interconnect cable.

Tweeters have been tested and are in good working order. Both produce nice clear sound and measure 6.4 & 6.7 ohms. They were pulled from a pair of SDA-1 speakers. Look at the pictures and feel free to ask any questions.

Legendary Polk SDA II speakers with interconnect cable. Polk’s line of Stereo Dimension Array (SDA) speakers, which were designed to create a more natural stereo sound stage than is possible with conventional forward-facing speaker systems. The SDA technology involves combining two speaker systems in each cabinet of a mirror-image stereo pair. The inner one (nearest to the center of the room), called the “stereo array,” is a normal stereo speaker. The second system, known as the “dimensional array,” is located a few inches to the outside of the stereo array. Each dimensional array is driven by the stereo signal from the opposite speaker in the pair, and the frequency, phase, and amplitude characteristics of its output are modified so that when its sound reaches the ear of the listener, it cancels the sound arriving at that ear from the opposite speaker. The result, in the ideal case, is that each ear hears only the sound from its corresponding speaker, without the “interaural crosstalk,” and consequent spatial distortion, that would otherwise exist. Eliminating interaural crosstalk effectively removes the physical speakers as apparent sound sources. SDA-2 is a superb speaker regardless of its spatial characteristics.
