SOME SPECS OF THIS POLK AUDIO SPEAKER THE SPEAKER SPECIALIST Best Value BY FAR Bookshelf Speakers! These are plentiful in the used market today because Polk Audio sold SO MANY! These use top quality components and construction! The polyamide tweeters were made in Germany, the woofers were made by Polk. They are characterized by a smooth, effortless sound, but highly detailed midbass, midrange, and highs that are clear as a bell, never fatiguing, with a stereo image second to NONE! The bass goes down to 40 Hz, and is tight and very articulate! They can fill any large to medium room with plenty of very high fidelity sound, and yet manage to image well even from a distance! Great in small rooms or living rooms. They handle plenty of power, up to 140 Watts per channel, without straining. They are of average efficiency, 90 dB/watt. If you are into detail, these speakers handily deliver! If you are streaming, or using cassettes, or a turntable, you will hear the differences in cartridges, styli, tape formulations, tape transports, and hear the differences between 16 bit CDs and 24 bit streaming! I bought my pair in 1985 and still have them, no modifications at all. They beat many speakers I’ve tried through the years since then, including KEF, Klipsch, Mission, Celestion, , Boston Acoustics, B&W, Wharfdale, Paradigm, and certainly any Japanese made speaker I bought and sold. These are unheralded speakers, but just about the best designed and made for the money out there, still, today! These are SO GOOD, that I’ve purchased 10 pairs over the last 4 years. I removed the drivers and crossovers, and used them as STAR components to build larger speakers! I sold them for 5X the cost of the components. Also, these have Butyl rubber surrounds—they don’t rot or fall apart! The tweeters just get better with age! They don’t age, just that they are still so good, they hold their own against modern tweeters costing much more! If you see these, GET THEM!!! A
