Pair of AB1 Transmission Line Monitors suitable for mid and far-field applications. These loudspeakers are a classic design based on BBC expertise and sound amazing, with exceptional imaging; sound stage; realism; and natural-sounding bass extension thanks to their Transmission Line design. PMC worked with Dynaudio to develop an improved version with rubber surrounds, so both drivers in these speakers were replaced with the new units in 2015 at a cost of £444. PMC say that the current replacement model speaker for insurance purposes would be the twenty5.24i, costing £5995. (The AB1s actually have a larger bass driver.) Both these speakers have just been checked and serviced including fitting new reticulated foam covers for the Transmission Line ports. Only used in a smoke-free environment. Forensic examination of both speakers reveals: Left hand speaker has a small scratch in the paint on the rear-facing matt black panel (see photo). The Right hand speaker has very slight scratches and a graze to the top veneer and a small graze on the side veneer (see three photos). Some areas of light wear to black finish but no dents etc. These have been exceptionally carefully used : - never blasted at excessive volumes (PMC speakers work amazingly well at lower levels so loudness isn’t really required!) - never subjected to potentially damaging pops or bursts of noise e.g. when powering up other equipment.. the amp for these is always the last thing to be powered on when starting up the studio, and always the first when powering down - never moved / knocked when in use I’ve been using them with a Bryston amp. This is by far the best nearfield monitoring system I’ve used - breathtakingly transparent and natural sounding. Personal collection only, HA9 (South kenton / Preston road) or E8 if collected in the next 2-3 weeks. No couriers sorry.
