Pioneer RT-707 Reel-to-Reel This is the highly prized Pioneer 707 open reel deck! This unit is about a 6.5 in overall cosmetic condition! There is wear to the outer black case (rusted areas, scratches, and pitting in areas). The black metal case could be redone with just a little work, and it would look much better in my opinion, but please check out the photos and know that it does have some issues. The front metal face plate looks great to me! The line volume knob is bent very slightly to the left (doesnt seem to affect anything, but please take note of that). The metal Pioneer take up reel has a bend to it as well... The direction lights dont come on, but could be an easy fix... The pinch rollers are clean and operational! The VU meter lights work, and the meters work as well! All knobs and buttons operate as they should! The tape heads are in great condition, and are very clean! The capstan motor works, fast forward and reverse works. Please note there is no bottom feet on the player... Ive ran a Johnny Cash Folsom Prison 7.5 ips tape through the machine 4 times, and it has played every time! Ive used fast forward and reverse, and the tape shuts off when its over. Ive done some minor cleaning to the unit, and sprayed the controls with contact cleaner. I have not done any repairs, or a very deep internal cleaning. The reel does have somewhat of a smell of being stored in a musty area. I dont notice any issues or problems internally. A really nice deck that with a little extra love can be a great part of the collection! It sounds awesome! If you need a quality reel-to-reel, this 707 performs very well! I do not repair vintage electronics. I havent done any electronic repairs to this unit at all. Im selling this Pioneer 707 in very good working order as I found it! It has functioned for me every time Ive played it. If youre looking at this listing you are already well aware of the quality of the 707! Please also be mindful this is vintage equipment, and may need minor repairs or some extra cleaning! Ive done my best to described this unit, and covered everything I can think of.
