PIONEER A-A9J Stereo Amplifier 2 x 55 Watts RMS + Remote I ran this amp with a matching Pioneer D9 SACD player for a few years and was always pleased with the output! Its built like a brick outhouse - nothing like the tin-thin cases you sometimes find lately. (I may end up selling the matching SACD player too - well have to see)! Cost around £700 when new! Nice clear front panel as tone controls etc can be found via the remote control. The amp features a rigid under-base construction with stabilising plate, metal insulators and aluminium side panels to ensure sound quality. A really hefty, solid amp with a great knob feel! A quality piece - condition is excellent with a very few tiny tiny marks. The amplifier features AIR Studios tuning; engineers have put this amplifier through rigorous tuning to deliver audio output that is as close to the original as possible. It is built combining class-AB Dual Mono symmetrical amps (which operate in pure class-A mode in low power, eliminating switching and crossover distortion). The highly-efficient twin toroidal transformers help with current delivery. You can play your PC audio files directly through the USB input terminal, with the Sound Retriever breathing life back into compressed audio sources. If youre a vinyl junky, the amplifier features a MM / MC phono input while an audio pre-out allows upgrading with additional power amps.
