I listed it previously incorrectly, so I opened up the box to take appropriate pictures. I also contacted Jim at VPI, and here is what he told me. Its definitely an Aries 1 model, circa approximately 1994-1995. The arm is indeed a 10-inch (you only measure the armtube) JMW metal unipivot arm. A very solid, substantial table in its day, and lots of them still running from ~30 years ago. And, I received this from a fellow trader kind enough to share his knowledge. One thing VPI didnt tell you about your particular Aries 1 is that in place of the stock platter that came with the table, yours has the platter from the VPI TNT 5.The Aries had a real good platter: 1.25; thick, comprised of a 7/8 thick bottom section made of aluminum (onto which was bonded a thin sheet of lead, covered in cork), with a 3/8 thick top layer of Delrin. The same platter came on the TNT 3 and 4.The TNT 5 has a great one: 1.5; thick, the bottom section 5/8 thick stainless steel (no lead sheet), with a 7/8 thick top Delrin layer. Thats the platter you have, and its the one most VPI aficionados consider the best platter VPI has ever made. Congratulations, it (and the Aries table) is a beauty! There is full inspection available to the buyer, but no returns for any reason, once it meets with your approval. Buyer expected to pay local sales tax as well, so please come prepared, and do not say that this is all you brought. Must be picked up with 3 days. Thanks in advance. Enjoy the music. Up for your consideration is a TNT 500+ linear amplifier. This example has been well cared for and is in good physical and operational condition. Device complement is 1 Motorola MRF-455 driving 8 Motorola MRF-455s This is a LOW drive amp. 4 watts in produces just under 500 bird watts out. If you drive it harder you will blow it up. Due to the nature of this device one wrong move could destroy it. Therefore I will not be accepting returns for any reason whatsoever. It has been thoroughly tested on my bench and I know it works very well including the preamp so no BS games for any reason. This amp is 40 years old and still works perfectly because the owner used it properly and did not foolishly try to beat every watt out of it.
