Denon DCD-1500II Audiophile PCM Audio Compact Disc CD Player with remote control in good condition as pictured. Featuring Denon Double Super Linear Converter, linear motor drive, and ceramicfiber reinforced pick up base. From a system owned by a former electrical engineer executive who treated his equipment and investments very well, including The Carver Receiver MXR-130, B&W Matrix 2 Series 2 speakers, and Mitsubishi’s top-of-the-line LT-30 linear tracking turntable. So while this Denon player operates and plays perfectly fine, just a slight tap on the disc holder is occasionally required to facilitate opening or closing which otherwise functions consistently smoothly and quickly. This Denon model has also been noted for its exceptionally solid and stable build quality as much as its technical attributes. Despite the deceptively basic CD player size and appearance, subtle details include metal rather than plastic buttons and most significantly a hefty weight of 20 pounds thanks to a reported 4mm sheet of lead inside the top cover that minimizes if not eliminates vibrations. From the 1986 manufacturer’s original instruction manual (included): The DCD-1500II compact laser disc player utilizes a unique Denon Super Linear Converter which prevents deterioration of sound quality in the PCM playback system, assuring accurate reproduction of sound record on compact laser discs, in the studio or in live sound production areas. The parts for this high performance disc player have been selected with careful discrimination, to produce high quality, realistic playback of the full musical production. 1) Double Super Linear Converter: This unique, Denon converter system prevents the zero-cross distortion that causes deterioration in PCM reproduction quality. The result is perfect reproduction of concert hall quality. 2) Built-in High Performance Digital Filter: Independent digital-analog converters are used on the left and right channels of the DCD-1500II, and a high precision digital filter with quad oversampling is used, as well as a built-in LC-OFC analog filter. These filters make clear reproduction with good rise possible. 3) Built-in Light Isolator Circuit: A light isolator is used in the emphasis select circuit of the audio circuitry which cuts interference from the digital circuits to the audio signal to the absolute minimum and prevents deterioration in sound quality.4) Remote control unit with variable volume: In addition to Play, Pause, Stop and Direct Select function using the 10 key pad on the remote control unit, it is also possible to vary the volume with the (+) and (–) keys. The remote control function greatly improves the ease of use of the DCD-1500II player.5) Output of Digital Information: Musical information on a compact disc can be digitally output (coaxial and optical) for reproduction by an external digital processor or D/A unit.6) Original Denon Linear Motor: Designed for quick and smooth running the linear motor greatly reduces access time and improves tracking resolution, resulting in enhanced high fidelity reproduction. 7) Vibration-resistant Structure: BMC, a material with high vibration absorption effects, is used in the installation base for the laser pickup, and shock resistant metal is used for the double top cover and the bottom panel, where the transformer is mounted, to improve vibration resistance.
