This is a two chassis unit, and the umbilical cord is included with the remote control. I have owned many Pass labs electronics; including the XP 30 and the XP 20 in the past.. all wonderful sound.. this is the latest version the XP 22! Unfortunately, I had to move back home to take care of my elderly parents …and have no space to set up a big system, so I must sell. I will ship As packed and I will not open the box (since it came right from the factory). Pass Labs XP12 Preamplifier Our trade in from a known customer, the unit is in very good condition, the remote control has mark on it but working fine. The XP-12 starts with a great power supply. It uses an efficient toroidal design with both an electrostatic and Mu metal shield, along with vacuum impregnating and epoxy fill. This gives a very quiet transformer both electrically and mechanically. The power supply circuitry itself is also lower noise and has additional filtering. The XP-12 uses the single stage volume control borrowed from the XS line preamp. This provides one hundred 1 dB steps with lower noise and distortion while removing some signal path parts. The gain circuitry uses Pass Labs favourite transistors from Toshiba with a higher biased output stage similar to the XS preamplifier auto bias. This makes longer and multiple cable runs easier to drive and gives the advantage of simplifying our single ended output circuitry while increasing performance. Whats not to love at this price... This is a very musical sounding pre employing class A design in true balanced topology. If you have never experienced a Pass Labs balanced design then this might be a great place to start. At this price, in a mid-to-high-end context, switching out a more modest preamp and replacing it with this is going to give you a very big bang for your buck. Its a very easy preamp to use in any system, and with its great output driving capability, its a brilliant preamp to use with long interconnects feeding active loudspeeakers.
