Vintage Watts Parostatik Disc Preener made in England by Cecil E Watts Ltd Used but in good condition - case / sleeve has some splits but actual cleaner is in very good condition and works perfectly. From Reddit Watts Parostatik Disc Preener So while looking around and comparing carbon brushes I stumbled upon something some of the old folks in the hifi forums swear by so I thought I share my experience with it and maybe its interesting to some folks here The product in question is the Watts Parostatic Disc Preener Its basically a velvet cover with a wick insert. Taken apart You take the wick insert out, let it soak in water, shake off the surplus water and insert it back into the velvet cover and attach the end caps. Looks like this You then put it back in its case thingy and let it sit for the moisture to percolate through to the velvet cover Back in its case After that its good to go. How it should be used As you can see, after youve cleaned the record you use the wick insert to clean the velvet cover. The wick keeps the moisture for a pretty long time so you dont have to do the whole soak in water routine everytime. Theyre available on eBay for ~$8 so I ordered one and tried it and I have to say, Im pretty happy with the result. Any visible dust or other contamination (paper fibres from the sleeve for example) along with the static charge were swiftly taken care of. So yea, so far I can really recommend it. Does what its supposed to do, is easy to handle and cheap to get. Apparently they last several years without a problem so that shouldnt be a problem either.
