Selling one of my BDP-95 players. Excellent condition. Includes original box and accessories, but no owners manual. Since Ive owned it, I have completed multiple upgrades. These were aimed at reducing the noise floor, and improving clarity in the signal path. I have used it exclusively as a 2-channel source utilizing the balanced outputs, so that is where I put most of my efforts. I have tested output from the HDMI ports before listing it, both work perfectly.Upgrades include:Replaced all power supply filter capacitors with high quality, audio grade caps, on both boards. Nichicon, Elna and Rubycon utilized here.Replaced the generic metal film resistors in both the balanced and single ended signal path with Vishay Dale resistors. These have excellent high frequency characteristics, and exceptionally low voltage noise.Replaced almost all the resistors on the SMPS board with the same Vishay Dales.Replaced the WIMA film caps in the balanced output signal path with Amtrans Copper Foil Polypropylene ones.Replaced the decoupling caps in both the balanced and single ended sections with high quality Rubycon and Elna caps.Replaced the standard rectifier diodes on the linear PS board with Hyperfast, soft recovery versions.Replaced the standard IEC entry module with a EMI filtering version from Corcom. This also makes the fuse externally accessible. As a result of this change, this unit is now permanently 115 VAC. This change shortened the PS path internally,by eliminating the voltage switch in the rear panel.Taking a cue from the BDP-105, I added some vibration insulating material on the inside of the top cover.All in all, a vast improvement in background noise, and sound quality. The very special feature of this player: It has a multiregion kit built-in, which allows the device to play Bluray discs from all regions (A, B, C) as well as DVDs with all possible codes. Instructions on how to use the kit are of course included. Region kits of this kind are unavailable in Europe and can only be purchased via expensive import from overseas (200+ Euros, including taxes etc.), so this BDP-95 represents incredible value! If I mentioned every detail about this player in my description, I would be writing a novel - so I will limited it to the following: I have tried out all of Oppos bluray player range (BDP-83/93/103/105) and none of them can match this BDP-95 sonically. The sound quality is even superior to the successor BDP-105 (confirmed by Oppo technicians) because the DAC layout had to be changed in the later model. Taking a look at the back even reveals balanced XLR outputs - what value for money! What made this player the best choice for me personally, is that it even accepts exotic media like DVD-AUDIO, SACD (including homemade SACD-R) and HDCD with its own decoder.
