The volume control also has an LED marker, which is a helpful indicator when using the remote control (see below). Bass and treble controls cover a full range of +/- 10 dB. These can be bypassed by selecting the Pure Direct function, which passes the input signal to the output stages without modification. I found this to be the best choice for CDs and HD radio broadcasts. The A-9555 comes with a remote controller which can also operate any ONKYO tuner or CD player. If the buyer owns either of these ONKYO products, he will find the trigger function handy. This is a cable that links the A-9555 to another ONKYO device, and allows that device to be controlled by the remote supplied with the amplifier. One minor drawback: there is no Balance control. Therefore, the two loudspeakers you use for each of the two (A+B) speaker pairs must match each other. ONKYO has earner very high ratings for the quality and reliability of its products for more than 40 years. At the offering price (minimum offer) of $200.00 + shipping, this amplifier is a bargain.
