Both work together as a kit. The node2i 115vac power supply is replaced with a new 5vdc power supply. The Shanti low noise linear power supply feeds the Node2 via 5vdc connector. The Node2 original power supply 120vac is upgraded to a 5vdc power supply to work with the Shanti. Thus, All the noise generated by the internal 115vac power supply is removed. The last picture includes the original 120vac power supply. I have the original box and original power supply for the Node2. There are many types of transformers, some are worse than others (noise coupling/ electromagnetic interference). Shanti uses one of the best transformers for noise and emi,r-core (galvanically isolated). Also, Shanti includes AC line filter and AC side is earthed to casing. Measuring noise (in real word scenario) we see about 80nV (0.08uV of noise from 0-20Khz) at the floor. This is comparable to batteries being used. As explained, Shanti is not only shining because of the ultra-low differential noise and common mode noise, but because of incredible low impedance / deep reservoir of power at the output of the PSU.
