Up for auction is a Nakamichi CR-3 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch rollers. - Checked the heads under microscope, they are in excellent condition. - Adjusted the playback and record heads for correct height and azimuth. - De-carbonized the reel and cam motors. - Replaced the back tension and capstan belts, adjusted the motor speed, W&F is 0.045% to 0.055%. - Lubricated the transport mechanism. - Replaced the electrolytic caps using Nichicon Muse non polar and Wima caps in the audio circuit section, United (Nippon) Chemicon caps in the logic circuit and Nichicon FG/FW in the power supply sections. - Replaced the orange PP caps using Wima PP caps. - Increased the value of the +18V power supply filter cap from 11500uF to 13600uF, the +12V from 4700uF to 6800uF and -18V from 470uF to 1000uF. - Increased the value of the four Dolby power supply filter caps from 220uF to 470uF each. - Increased the value of the record amp power supply filter caps from 47uF to 220uF. - Added in parallel with the 10uF electrolytic caps in the audio path 0.47uF Wima film caps. - Cleaned the potentiometers using deoxit D5. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels and bias using TDK D/SA/MA-X tapes. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, timer, dolby b & c, bias fine, auto repeat. The sound and the stereo image are great, the bass is tight, the vocals are very defined, the high frequencies are crystal clear, both in playback and recording modes. The cassette mechanism runs smoothly. Externally the deck is in very good condition, considering the age. This is a 120V model, S/N 13146, production date 1988. With the deck are included the old parts. All the questions are very welcome. NAKAMICHI BX-125E Cassette Deck RECAPPED POWER SUPPLY. TRANSPORT SERVICED & CALIBRATED. This deck is presented in spectacular operational condition and very good cosmetics. There are VERY FEW MARKS AT ALL ON THE FACEPLATE. But LOADS of marks on the case see photo’s. The deck has undergone a transformational service to bring it back to specification over the last few days. All of the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply have been replaced with the best quality parts. The transport was removed, disassembled, inspected, cleaned, old grease removed and re-lubricated, new idler tyre and belt kit installed. The motors have been dismantled, inspected, cleaned and lubricated - they are now very smooth and quiet. The tape path was demagnetised and confirmed successful with a gauss meter prior to adjusting the heads. All of the switches and potentiometers have been cleaned and lubricated. Meter levels were set correctly. Head heights, stroke and azimuth were all set precisely. The Heads look in fantastic condition and frequency response meets original specification with all tape types. Tape Speed has been set very accurately and the deck has been meticulously set up. The performance is great for a 2 head deck, in both playback and recording modes, especially now with the new audio caps. The deck is ideal for playing pre recorded tapes or/and to use it for digitizing your cassettes.
