Up for auction is a Nakamichi CR-1, 2 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch roller. - Lubricated the transport mechanism. - De-carbonized the reel and cam motors. - Coated the reel motor pulley and reel hubs with liquid rubber for better traction.- Replaced the belts and idler tire, adjusted the motor speed, W&F 0.028% to 0.035%. - Adjusted the playback/record head for correct azimuth. - Replaced the electrolytic caps in the audio circuits using Nichicon Muse audio caps.- Increased the Dolbys power supply filter capacitors value from 220uF to 470uF. - Increased the playback amplifier power supply filter cap from 100uF to 470uF.- Increased the record amplifier power supply filter cap from 47uF to 220uF.- Cleaned the potentiometers using deoxit D5. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels and bias using TDK D/SA/MA tapes. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, counter memory, dolby b & c, timer, auto repeat. The performance is great for a 2 head deck, in both playback and recording modes, especially now with the new audio caps. The deck is ideal for playing pre recorded tapes or/and to use it for digitizing your cassettes. Externally it is in good condition, considering the age ( please check the pictures). This is a 120V model, S/N 16870, production date 1988. With the deck are included the old parts. All the questions are very welcome. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter, CR-7 test unit, 1000ZXL test unit). When i was young, Nakamichi was the brand you aspired to for high end kit and it continues to be a revered brand. This tape deck is in full working order, playing and recording as it should. It has a small amount of scratching to the lid, expected of stacked separates. You are welcome to see it in action on collection. Collection is from the ground floor.
