I have been a collector of the Nagra SN, SNN and SNST for years and a couple of times while gently rewinding a tape the mechanical mechanism jammed and would then prevent it from playing tapes and required costly repairs. I have seen the Nagra rewind unit which operates on A.C. only selling on ebay and although I wanted it I refused to pay the $2,000.00+ price tag. So, I decided to make my own way to rewind Nagra SN tapes at a fraction of the price. The result is my modification of a portable Reel to Reel tape recorder with custom made Nagra tape adapters. It rewinds the Nagra SN tapes flawlessly and does it conveniently while you wait and best of all there’s no wear on your tape heads. Their Nagra rewind unit requires 110 volts or 220 volts but mine uses 2 “C” size batteries (Not included) for convenience wherever you go without the need of an A.C. outlet. Included are custom made patented adapters to hold the Nagra SN reels securely while rewinding your Nagra SN, SNN & SNST tapes.No tapes or empty reels are included and shown for display only. The $2,000.00+ rewind unit uses belts that eventually will need to be replaced but mine uses no belts because the motor is direct drive. Since your tapes can be covered with the lid closed when you rewind tapes this also gives you the benefit of a dust free environment and it’s the perfect companion to your Nagra SN and SNN because you can take it with you when you’re on the go with a convenient handle.
