Description
Rare NAD 7020 Stereo Receiver with AM/FM tuner (1988) Working, excellent used. All basic functions have been tested and the item is working well, with impressive, detailed sound. Please note: the amp has not been serviced, I do not know the history of it. I removed the sleeve for photographing (please also see video) and cleaned the switch contacts, thats all. You will receive just the amp - no leads except the short mains lead (see image) and no plug (I prefer to send this way for packing reasons, and many of my buyers are international so will need a different mains connector). Reviews For The NAD 7020: Reviewed Oct 27th, 2018 by sxxxxxxxxxx My own 7020e - basically a 3020e with a tuner - still sounds terrific to me at 30 years of age. This is the last of the line, with digital tuning that stays on-station with no trouble. Its been in use since 1988 and not a thing has gone wrong. Output is remarkable for a stated 20 watts (into 8 ohms) and the sound has the typical NAD sweet, warm richness that everyone talks about. It outdoes a 10-year-old Cambridge Audio Azur 540R V3 AV receiver we use with the TV. I have it paired with two 1988 NAD 8020e speakers made by KEF - also still fine, amazingly - and plugged into my computer. It plays music off a Synology NAS, Google Play and other online sources. Three decades in, Ive added an Audioquest Dragonfly Black DAC, which gives it a small additional lift but nothing transformative. Im toying with buying a little Polk powered subwoofer and hooking it up to the B speaker circuit. Reportedly the power source and components on this generation of budget NAD gear were over-specified compared to rivals. Im ready to believe so. It seems possible that this lot can make their half-century. Negatives?- Its old, so while its fine with RCA connections from the DragonFly, theres no DTS/Dolby or digital anything.- Its budget; the right pricier gear will give a more detailed sound.- Its not as beautiful as my dads old Yamaha receiver; the aesthetic is minimalist and almost military.- The tuner doesnt perform that well when positioned next to a stack of computer gear. With all my radio stations online, this is barely relevant any more.- There are no subwoofer inputs, though a REL 3T could probably be plugged into the B Speaker circuit.- Speaker inputs are just spring clips. Yes, Im reaching to find flaws. Im full of admiration for a piece of hardware which has done its job so well for so long. The return on investment has been extraordinary. May 27, 2020 nxxxxxxxxxxxxxSTRENGTH:Hello everyone. I have bought NAD 7020i stereo reciever recently. I see that here in Audio Review , review for this little monster doesnt exist. I am very satisfied with NAD 7020i pre/amp . Its rated at 8 ohms 20 watts 40 watts at 4 ohms and 50 watts at 2 ohms. Here is the thing. I have one pair of floorstanding ,8 inch , 1.2 meters high ,handmade in Serbia speakers. They are in transmission wood boxes. AND THEY ARE RATED AND MADE TO WORK AT 2 OHMS. By far, I have used many hifi amps, car amps, recievers rated at this ohmage regime. Also, i have germanium amplifier at 1 and 2 ohms also handmade, and its perfect All i can tell you is that this NAD stereo reciever works very ,very well ! Its bass response is very warm sounding (which i like). Mids are detailed and flat up to 1500 khz.Which is good for critical listening. Highs from 2khz to 20 khz are quite ok and does not harsh or hiss at any moment. I use NAD only directly with its amp sector to my firewire soundcard. Amazing sound from the nineties components. WEAKNESS:Year of production (1991). Nothing else.
