This is a NAD 3140 integrated amplifier. Everything listed below was tested. The only things I did not test were the tape loops returns (Rec Out) along with corresponding Rec Selector switch as I do not have a tape deck. Because these units can be years to decades old, part pirates steal good parts and try to return item with bad parts, people misuse and damage equipment, I do not accept returns of any kind, nor give refunds of any type. Bid only if you accept my no refund, no return policy. Otherwise, buy someone elses items. Allow my feedback rating to be your guide. I offer free demo to local buyers because my items are honestly described. Testing: I use an ipod and turntable for input testing (neither the ipod nor turntable is included). I move methodically from one function and input to the next taking notes as I go along. I clearly state what was not tested. Plenty of pictures are provided to assess cosmetics & functionality. Zoom in and look carefully at photos. Ask questions before you bid. If anything bothers you about the unit, do not bid. Only what is described is included. No associated testing equipment is included. The BAD:Finish shows age. There is sticky residue on top cover. I detected slight static when using the speaker eq switch. More so when you move it to the 45 than the 70 setting. Some de-oxit should clear it, but I can not guarantee it. The function works perfectly, the static only appears when you move switch. If you turn volume down when you move it, you circumvent the problem. Same goes for low level switch but it has even less static. This is a service only listing to Restore and Re Cap one NAD 3140 amplifier that YOU send to me. The shipping charge is for the return trip back to you in the same box sent. Installation of four Banana Jack/Binding Posts for SPEAKER_A are included.

This NAD 3140 has been upgraded and custom retrofitted to eliminate the thermal issues that plagued this model throughout its production. There are overheating 2-watt resistors in the preamp power supply that bake (and prematurely deteriorate) the surrounding purple electrolytic caps to a golden brown. I have relocated these resistors on terminal strips above and away from the other components. See the last photo. A second set of overheating resistors that supply the front panel LEDs (of all things!) has been eliminated by upgrading the ancient LEDs with much lower power versions. The soft clipping circuit has been updated to the latest Zener diode version (per the Service Bulletin) but with four 1 watt zeners instead of two 1/2 watt zeners to reduce the overheating that was occurring in that area as well. I have installed four Banana Jack/Binding Posts for SPEAKER_A in addition to the original Spring Terminals. The standard 3/4 spacing accommodates paired plugs. I have replaced ALL of the electrolytic capacitors. The four 4700uF Main Caps have been upgraded from 50V to 63V since they are actually charging up to 51V in this unit (NAD was notorious for this). The other power supply caps have been upgraded to higher voltage and/or 105C temp ratings. The audio caps have been upgraded to ELNA, nichicon MUSE BP, FW, and Fine Gold Audio as well as Vishay Film in the Bass_EQ and Control amps. I also replaced many of the 0.1 disc caps that were looking old and baked and worn with new multi-layer ceramics. I have upgraded the 4 very sensitive Bias and Offset adjustments to multi-turn trimpots. They allow a more precise adjustment that is less likely to drift or be accidentally disturbed. I have cleaned the switches with Deoxit D5 and cleaned/lubed the pots with Deoxit Fader F5. Cosmetically, this unit is in good condition. It has a few scrapes on the top cover and the front panel. It is rated at twice the RMS power (40 WPC), has two phono inputs, two source selection switches (listen and record), two Bass_EQ contours, two tape loops, two sets of speaker outputs, two led power meters, and even two power transformers that are wired in series to behave as one massive chunk of iron. All that combined with over twice the Main Capacitance provides a Dynamic Power IHF rating of 80 WPC at 8 ohms, 130 WPC at 4 ohms, and 160 WPC at 2 ohms. The 3140 is an all-discrete design. The sophisticated 7-transistor MM/MC Phono Preamp has both Phono_1 and Phono_2 input jacks DC coupled to an FET gate with no coupling capacitor. A very unique feature of the 3140 is its 5-transistor 12db BASS_EQ Amplifier stage that can be selected to extend the low frequency response of almost any speaker by an octave centered around 45 Hz (Tower Speakers) or 70 Hz (Bookshelf Speakers). While the additional demands on the power amplifier can be significant, this amp can deliver. Another unique feature is the S.L.C. or Speaker Lead Compensation feedback in the Power Amplifier. It is meant to compensate for long and/or light gauge speaker wire, but I find it pleasing under all conditions, and usually leave it on. NOTE: Unlike most power amplifiers, the 3140 connects to all Speakers as if in a bridged configuration. The Negative Speaker terminals are NOT common ground. They are actually the S.L.C. feedback for each channel.

Revidiert NAD Stereo Power Amplifier 2140: mit komplett neuen Low ESR Elektrolytkondensatoren Die 4 originalen 4700 uF Power Kondensatoren wurden durch 4x Nichicon 6200 uF Gold Tune Audio Grade Kondensatoren ersetzt. Durch die hhere Kapazitt hat die Endstufe jetzt mehr Ressourcen im Bass. NAD Preamplifier 1020: ebenfalls smtliche Elkos durch LOW ESR Elkos ersetzt. Zustzlich hat er ein Bluetooth-Modul bekommen, so dass er nun Streamingfhig ist. Es handelt sich um ein hochwertiges Modul mit BT 4.2. Hre schon die ganze Zeit und habe noch keine Aussetzer bemerkt. Wenn es nicht belegt ist, wird der Ausgang per Relais getrennt. Anschlussmig liegt es auf dem Eingang fr TAPE. Wenn kein BT verbunden ist, wird TAPE durchgeschliffen - ist also nicht eingeschrnkt. Weiterhin gibt es zwei Eingnge und ein Phono mit einstellbarer Impedanz. Die Kombi klingt richtig gut - NAD halt. Habe 8 Ohm Standlautsprecher von Klipsch dran Das Netz ist voll von Lobeshymnen auf diese Serie Vintageverstrker von NAD. Gereinigter gebrauchter Zustand, kleine Kratzer nicht auszuschlieen.
