Beautiful Vintage Monacor (a division of Monarch Electronics) SMX-52AC all vacuum tube FM multiplex stereo receiver in excellent working condition. Made in Japan in the 1967. All electrolytic and oil capacitors replaced (please see the last photo), new power cord and fuse holder installed in June of 2023. Everything works very well on this nice sounding tube receiver, including the tuning eye tube, balance, tone control, AM, FM, FM stereo, recording out, telescopic antenna, et cetera. Low wattage. Its best to use it with highly efficient speakers (horn speakers, vintage speakers). Great for a small space, office, den or reading room. Two line inputs labeled tape and phono. I played a CD player and a cassette deck with very good results. The magnetic cartridge on the pictured AR turntable played very softly. I think the phono input was meant for a high output ceramic or crystal cartridge, not for modern day magnetic cartridges. It can be used as a line input. My technician added two capacitors to the selector switch to increase dynamic range that was being attenuated by a one meg resistor (please see photo). That was probably done originally to match and protect the small inexpensive speakers that would normally be connected to this receiver. Cabinet is very clean with no visible scratches on the veneer. I cleaned it very well inside. The face plate is in very good cosmetic condition with only a few signs of age, although a little warped. We noticed the bulky screws heads (holding the dial glass to the chassis) behind the face plate were making it bow over time. We replaced the screws with flat head screws that do not put pressure on the back of the face plate. Overall, its a nice sounding, compact (approximate dimensions: 19 1/2 X 10 X 6), mid century modern style, nice looking tube stereo receiver.
