McIntosh Legendary MR77 TunerRichard Modafferi MasterpieceRIMO Design Many years ago I was looking for the best possible example of a MR77. To me, the MR77 always sounded better than the MR78 or MR71 (by far), and any of the later MC tuners which I have owned (or have heard since). I purchased this example and have moved several times, hence it has been in storage. It received a new glass prior to storage ($300). The chrome is superb. The paint is excellent. I love this tuner. However, I have had it in storage for six years (climate controlled) and when I removed it, the stereo light does not light up. I have listened to it for days and days (yes it works, I hooked it up to a 300ohm antenna) and it was able to pull in quite a few stations, however it does not sound to be in stereo, hence the red light not lighting up. This will need to be serviced. I was going to send it into Richard Modafferi himself at Audioclassics, but I do not have the time. This is probably one of the finest examples of the MR77 you will find. However, it does need to be serviced, or you can listen to it not in stereo. I know how to pack McIntosh stuff, and it will be fastened to a board and also it will be double boxed with foam. I believe this price is very fair considering ones I have seen for more than $2K are not anywhere near this cosmetically. All the lights do light up. And all the switches are smooth.
