For sale is my Marantz 2226 Receiver and 6100 Turntable. I would prefer these were sold as a pair, but I might be tempted to split them for the right offer. Please send me a message with the item and offer price, and if it is acceptable, I will create a separate listing. The 2226 Receiver has been serviced, had many of the capacitors replaced, and the power supply and amplifiers have been adjusted to factory specification. The incandescent bulbs have been replaced with carefully chosen LED bulbs that produce a colour very close to the original. The only modification has been to replace the speaker connectors with standard 4mm banana sockets. It has a mounting plate exactly the same as the original and so no modification has been made to the rear panel. The original bare-wire connectors will be supplied should the buyer wish to refit them. It is in very good condition and the faceplate looks like new. This model has the larger tuning dial window but with the push buttons set in an aluminium strip. There were only a few models styled like this and I find it is the best looking faceplate design. The 6100 Turntable has been serviced and the belt replaced. The way the original captive phono lead is attached means that the cable is prone to breaking inside. This has been replaced by two phono sockets which are far more convenient. The original internal tone arm wires, which are bare and run close to the power cable, have been rerouted and replaced by a screened cable. This makes it much quieter than the original arrangement. As with the Receiver, the mounting plate for the phono sockets uses the original cut-out and screw fixings, so that no modification has been made to the plinth. The original cable will be included. It is in very nice condition with none of the vinyl lifting from around the speed selector which is often seen. The lid has fine swirl marks from cleaning over the years but is otherwise in unusually good condition with no cracks or deep scratches. With many people now starting to appreciate vintage audio for its aesthetics and tactile experience, this would make a very nice, trouble-free system. I would prefer collection, but I can arrange delivery for £35. The high shipping cost is because the items will need to be sent separately. They will be shipped with Parcelforce 48hr.
