marantz PM-12 OSE Integrated Amplifier The 12 OSE series is a dedicated model for the Japanese market, which is one of the worlds leading premium Hi-Fi audio markets, with many users who have a deep knowledge of audio and music. The PM-12 uses a switching amplifier to downsize the power amplifier circuit and heat sink, which used to take up a lot of space in conventional analog amplifiers, making it possible to use an unprecedented amount of space for the preamplifier in this class of integrated amplifier. Making the most of this space, we designed the circuit and selected parts with the highest priority on sound quality, and developed a new single-stage preamplifier circuit that combines a JFET input and a DC servo circuit with a current feedback amplifier that uses Marantzs original high-speed amplifier module HDAM®-SA3. While refining the well-established richness of information and high-speed sound, the number of coupling capacitors used has been reduced, greatly improving the resolution and clarity of the audio signal. A dedicated power supply circuit for the preamp enables a stable power supply that is not affected by fluctuations in power consumption by the power amplifier. A high-capacity toroidal core transformer is installed exclusively for the preamplifier for high-purity power supply. A double shield with a silicon steel plate and a steel case is applied to the outer periphery of the transformer to suppress the adverse effect on the peripheral circuit due to leakage magnetic flux. The rectifier circuit uses an ultra-low leakage current Schottky barrier diode. In addition, a newly developed Elna custom block capacitor (6800?F / 35V) is used for the smoothing circuit, enabling high-quality and high-speed power supply. The volume circuit uses the latest JRC high-performance volume control IC. Equipped with an F.C.B.S. function that can link the volume of PM-12 OSE with up to 4 units (8 channels). The system can be flexibly expanded according to the application, such as a bi-amp drive using multiple PM-12 OSEs, a multi-amp drive, and a surround system. Hypexs NCore® NC500 switching amplifier module is used to achieve high output and speaker driving power beyond the size limitations of pre-main amplifiers without compromising sound quality. The NC500 is a switching amplifier module that not only excels in power efficiency and space factor, but also has extremely low distortion from low to high frequencies, and has excellent performance in that frequency characteristics do not change regardless of the impedance of the connected speaker. Equipped with the newly developed Marantz Musical Premium Phono EQ compatible with both MM and MC cartridges. By adopting a two-stage configuration consisting of an MC head amplifier with a gain of 20dB and a non-feedback type phono equalizer amplifier with a gain of 40dB, the gain per stage is suppressed to achieve low distortion. The display uses a full-dot organic EL display. Ingenuity to improve visibility is included, such as temporarily enlarging the display when performing an operation.
