Marantz CD Player CD65 Mark II Special Edition This CD player was part of my brothers vintage hifi kit from the late 1980s. He’s recently passed it on to me but I am not a big music/hifi enthusiast so rather than it be boxed away in a cupboard I thought it best to offer it out to those of you who’ll recognise its quality and will get pleasure from using it for years to come. From a review I read it was manufactured around 1988 when the Philips-based Marantz brand name was known for producing excellent quality CD players in that continuously evolving heyday for the CD. The review states this particular model retailed for £249.95 in the UK, a tidy sum that my brother must have saved up for back in the day. Probably around £750 at today’s prices. The player hasn’t had much use in recent years but it’s been well looked after and still in great condition and working order. I set it up recently with a powerful amplifier and large speakers and even to my uneducated ears the sound was crisp and not distorted even when I cranked up the volume. It comes with the original remote and the user manual. There’s also a power lead that might not be the original but the plug does have the recommended 3amp fuse.
