As I now stream radio, I have decided to part with this tuner. As it has been in its box since we moved house, I sent it to the UK distributors who are Decent Audio (Hifisound) in Stockton-on-Tees for a check over. It has just been returned with a clean bill of health. As you may already know, magnum Dynalab tuners are considered to be the best in the world and are used by some radio stations to monitor their output. Although this is the basic version in their range, it is still extremely fine sounding. Reviewers have commented: I was amazed at what I was hearing. The detail and spaciousness of the MD-90 were incredible and the background was extremely quiet. Listening to the MD-90 was not like listening to the radio at all. During extended listening sessions, I caught myself thinking “that’s a great CD or record”, forgetting that I was actually listening to live radio. Radio signals can certainly be high fidelity and the MD-90 confirmed that. The tuner had a phenomenal frequency extension. Classical recordings had that top-end sparkle of an orchestra while drum and bass radio shows extended the low-end far deeper than I am accustomed to from radio broadcasts. The photographs show there are three meters on the fascia for multi-path, centre tune and signal strength. All lit with a gentle amber glow. There is a digital frequency display beneath these. The tuner comes with the original instruction manual, power lead and original double layer box. You will see from the photographs that it is in excellent condition. These are currently sold in the UK for £1,750 (eg Analogue Seduction), and one dealer has a used sample for £899 in very good condition.
