For sale are a pair of Magnepan MMG speakers, one working, one not working. One speaker, the speaker with three buttons, the tweeter on the left, labeled R in the photos, looks and sounds great. I removed the grill cloth to examine it but I see no damage to it whatsoever, and can hear no deterioration of the sound.I did not replace the grill cloth because over the years it looks shabby and needs to be replaced. Ive been wanting to replace the grill cloth for years but didnt because I knew that the thin black stiles that hold it in place would most likely break on removal. Sure enough, two out of the fours stiles did break. The other speaker, the one with a single button, the tweeter on the right, labeled L in the photos, the tweeter went out. There is no sound out of the tweeter, there is only sound out of the midrange panel. After removing the grill cloth I could not find the source of the problem. While he tweeter does not appear damaged, it shows no electrical continuity across its input terminals. On visual inspection I can see some damage to the midrange panel. There are a few spots where there are 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch tears in the mylar. I believe this speaker to be a parts unit. I am selling these speakers hoping that there is someone who needs a single speaker, either as a replacement or as a center channel. Regardless, one would have to replace the original grill cloth cover. I believe that these can be sourced from Magnepan. One would need a staple gun to attach the grill cloth to the speaker frame and a brad nailer to re-attach the stiles. It uses a version of the same panel as the MMG W (and has the same 100Hz-16kHz frequency response), but its curved, so that the speakers horizontal dispersion is broader than it would be if it were flat. Because of the panels curvature, the MMG C is mounted within a bowed framework that is 36 wide by 9 1/4 high by 5 1/2 deep at its front, tapering to 2 1/2 at its tips. Speaker-wire connections are made through small set-screw-tightened sockets, a non-standard but very secure arrangement. The MMG C weighs 18 pounds.

I’m selling a pair of Magnepan MMGs I’ve had for several years and have loved every minute of. If you’re looking at this listing, you probably know what an incredible value these are and if you’ve never heard a pair, you’re in for something special. I’ve just upgraded to the newer equivalent Magnepan LRS+ so it’s time to let these go to a new home. They’re in great shape and play flawlessly, you’ll see in the pictures there are 2 tiny holes on one speakers sock and another 3rd hole on the other speakers sock, but no damage to the drivers. The holes are where the wooden frame is located. This does not affect playing and is visually unnoticeable from a distance. That being said, Magnepan does offer replacement socks that would be easy to install if one were to do so. I’ve already got them boxed up and ready to transport/ship if buyer would like to pay for that, just feel free to message me about shipping or about anything else and I’d be glad to tell you about them.

These black socks fit Magneplanar MMG and and were very carefully removed so that they could be reused. In near perfect condition. Removed from brand new MMGs for color change. May fit other models, but I dont know for sure.
