For sale are a pair of Magnepan MMG speakers, one working, one not working. One speaker, the speaker with three buttons, the tweeter on the left, labeled R in the photos, looks and sounds great. I removed the grill cloth to examine it but I see no damage to it whatsoever, and can hear no deterioration of the sound.I did not replace the grill cloth because over the years it looks shabby and needs to be replaced. Ive been wanting to replace the grill cloth for years but didnt because I knew that the thin black stiles that hold it in place would most likely break on removal. Sure enough, two out of the fours stiles did break. The other speaker, the one with a single button, the tweeter on the right, labeled L in the photos, the tweeter went out. There is no sound out of the tweeter, there is only sound out of the midrange panel. After removing the grill cloth I could not find the source of the problem. While he tweeter does not appear damaged, it shows no electrical continuity across its input terminals. On visual inspection I can see some damage to the midrange panel. There are a few spots where there are 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch tears in the mylar. I believe this speaker to be a parts unit. I am selling these speakers hoping that there is someone who needs a single speaker, either as a replacement or as a center channel. Regardless, one would have to replace the original grill cloth cover. I believe that these can be sourced from Magnepan. One would need a staple gun to attach the grill cloth to the speaker frame and a brad nailer to re-attach the stiles. Selling my beloved MMGs as theyve now been replaced by the latest Magnepan LRS+ speakers. I listened to the two sets of speakers back-to-back several times and have to say that my well broken-in MMGs sound better in some ways than the new LRS+ do, which surprised me. Almost decided to just keep the MMGs. Excellent cosmetic condition. A small, subtle smudge on the grill cloth of one speaker. Couldnt see it at all in my listening room, but you can make it out in a bright room (as shown in the pics). Sound-wise, theyre great. No delamination buzz or other issues. If youre looking at this, you probably already know how truly magical Maggies can sound. They will be packed and shipped in the original box. I am the second owner.

I made these grills for a pair of white Kef Q750s I no longer have. The grills are made from very thin plywood, painted white, with embedded magnets. The grill fabric is from a vintage pair of Magenpan MG-Is that I rebuilt. The grill fabric is off-white, and softens the look of the speakers some.
