This is a very nice set of M&K center and left and right satellite speakers. If you know about M&K, then you already know about their legendary quality and build. These are in near perfect condition. There is a pin on two of the grills broken off, but the grills stay on just fine so you would never know. Each speaker is 18.5” tall x 6.5’ wide and 8.5’ deep and weigh nearly 18 pounds each. These are not your speakers in a box variety. They are a great sounding system. You’ll be surprised.

The S-125 speakers are tall and thin measuring just over 6 wide with the drivers setup in a line. The front pair of the S-125 speakers are angled slightly inward toward the listener to improve imaging. As with any speaker pair, the angles of the left and right speakers need to be tweaked to optimize the soundstage. The center channel is also angled downward for better on-axis response when placed on top of a rear-screen television. The front baffle of the S-125 is not parallel with the rear of the cabinet, nor is the sides completely parallel. This trapezoidal design helps improve the sonic qualities of the S-125 by preventing sound from bouncing back and forth inside the cabinet. Parallel surfaces tend maximize the slap echo effect, so M&K chose to minimize this with their cabinet design. Other M&K speakers such as the S-85 (used as mains or surrounds) and SS-150THX surrounds use the same drivers as the S-125 to achieve a matched timbre for seamless panning of sound from front to back. The S-125 driver arrangement has two 5-1/4 adjacent woofers with a single tweeter next to them. This is different than the more common DApollito (woofer-tweeter-woofer) configuration frequently seen in the industry. The center channel (S-125C) exhibited detailed and articulate qualities over a very wide listening angle making it ideal for the many seating positions in a home theater environment. M&K claims the Phase-Focused crossover has much to do with this wide listening window. Many speakers Ive listened to have a sweet spot with a lobing effect as the listener is moved off-axis. These speakers had a surprisingly uniform off-axis response. The back of the S-125 has two sets of inputs for selecting either the Normal or Bright Midrange Timbre crossover characteristics. According to M&K, the Normal mode follows their Q-curve response, which is said to have an extremely musical tonal balance. The alternative Bright Midrange Timbre input is a tonal characteristic more suited for absorptive room environments much like what is found in many movie theaters. Our listening environment worked best with the Normal mode, so we used this for the majority of our listening tests. When you get the item, it will have all features and functions fully operational. Cosmetic Condition - Average Cosmetically speaking, it looks to be in average cosmetic shape for an item of this type with a typical amount of cosmetic wear to a comparable item of its age and use as shown. To be more specific, here is what we noticed: Typical signs of normal use. Speaker grate have some staining or holes as shown.

This MX-70 amp is fully operational with zero issues. It is shown connected and operating on the test table. (drivers are not included, but are available in a separate listing) All parts are OEM including the Paraline transformer and complete wiring harness, even the harness that goes through the cabinet to the lower, inverted driver. If you use it, be sure to seal the hole in the cabinet it passes through to keep the cabinet air tight.This can replace the amp in an MX-70B, lacking only the phase toggle switch. It is a compatible replacement for the amp and power supply in the MX-90, also 125-watt. It will work just fine, though with slightly less maximum output, in the 150-watt MX-105, MX-145, and MX-150. All amps use identical 8-hole mounting. Slight mounting differences may apply to the separate capacitor bank and rectifier. Before you even think of going to an aftermarket amp, compare the specs. This M&K designed, assembled and tested amp is rated at less than 0.03% distortion at full power through its designed bandwidth. The Headroom Maximizer circuitry will not allow the amp to distort. M&K Miller & Kreisel V-125 Powered Subwoofer. Cherry cabinets. Although Miller & Kreisel (M&K) manufactures a full line of loudspeaker systems, the company is perhaps best known for its powered subwoofers. One of the newest among them is the V-125.The V-125 is relatively large and heavy compared with some of the other subwoofers we have tested recently. Its nominally 12-inch driver (the actual effective cone diameter is about 101/2 inches) faces forward behind a removable black cloth grille that covers the entire front of the all-black cabinet. Unlike many other subwoofers, the V-125 is magnetically shielded, enabling it to be used close to a video monitor or TV set. The fully sealed enclosure also contains an amplifier rated at 125 watts output.In addition to a large heat sink for the internal amplifier, the V-125’s back panel is well populated with connection terminals and controls. This is an unusually versatile powered subwoofer, with RCA-jack inputs for line-level signals from a preamplifier or an A/V receiver’s subwoofer output, as well as spring-clip wire connectors for the right- and left-channel speaker output signals of a power amplifier or receiver and similar connectors for outputs to a pair of satellite (main) speakers.Among the controls on the back panel is a toggle switch that reverses the phase of the subwoofer output relative to the main program signal. The manual discusses the procedures for setting this switch, which must be done after the system is set up and operating. When I emailed Ken Kreisel to ask if inverting the lower mid-woofers on the S-125 would yield the sonic benefits of the S1C he replied, YES! Capitals and exclamation point his. All M&K MX subwoofers use this push-pull configuration to cancel even-order harmonics. The S1C is the only M&K satellite to employ this technology from the factory. These S-125s use the factory wiring routed through the grill peg holes, sealed with flexible black mastic to keep the satellite air tight. The polarity of the inverted drivers is reversed so both drivers fire mechanically in-phase while electrically out-of-phase. This modification is completely reversible. If you do this, it is critical to replug the holes in the grill peg sockets. Two grills are included. One has two flaws shown in the last picture. The S-125 was designed while M&K was in transition from hi-fi to HT. The High Efficiency connection has a brighter midrange timbre more like THX speakers. The Normal connection employs M&Ks Q-curve which is more pleasing to our ears when listening to music. I have three pairs of S-125s and one center channel S-125C, all of which I will be listing. After collecting this wonderful equipment for more than 25 years, I am thinning the hoard. My old ears are no longer high fidelity. These speakers function correctly. The pictures show their exceptionally clean condition. Full disclosure: the foam strips on the tweeter baffle are original, old and fragile, and may not survive packing and shipping. Ive simply removed others that have disintegrated. GooGone is an excellent adhesive remover and does not harm the black lacquer bead finish. These speakers are heavy and will require substantial packaging and cushioning. They will arrive at your door exactly as pictured. Packing is not rocket science.
