Description
Luxman C-1000 Control Center Preamp. ***** PLEASE NOTE that this unit was made for the Japanese market and requires 100 volt AC power. Therefore if used in the US, a step down transformer will be required to convert 120v to 100v. This unit is being offered for parts / not working since it does have some issues which i'll do my best to disclose. The unit has been tested for multiple long listening sessions multiple days, using the Aux 1 input. Aux 2 and Tuner inputs tested and work, Tape inputs were not tested. Volume control, and Balance / Attenuate controls work fine. issues include: * left channel of phono input does not work, and has hiss output, regardless if using phono inputs 1 or 2 * when tone control switch is activated the right channel cuts out after 20 minutes or so and has no sound. Prior to cutting out all the controls seem to work correctly. When tone control is in center off / defeat position, the unit works flawlessly. * the wood cabinet shows fading on 1/2 of top, which was that way when acquired. most likely due to light exposure near window. i do not have the skills to repair myself and offering it in hopes that someone whom possesses them can isolate the issues and repair, or do a full restoration / recap. Please also note that due to age there is no warranty and no returns. Designed by Tim de Paravacini, this was the second component launched for Luxman's 50th Anniversary lineup. It sounds even better than it looks. The equalizer uses a cascode, differential and direct coupling method to improve linearity, stability and signal-to-noise ratio in the high frequency range. In addition, a class A inverted Darlington push-pull configuration is adopted for the final stage so that it is not affected by the load condition connected after the equalizer stage. In addition, a constant current drive is provided at important points to improve the linearity of the transistor itself and to improve the bare loop gain to ensure the full differential function. The intermediate amplifier section and tone control section also employ the cascoded direct-coupled method to improve linearity, stability and signal-to-noise ratio in the high-frequency range. The tone control part uses LUX system NF type with 3-point switching of bending point frequency, and it is also possible to defeat. The output section uses a two chip emitter-follower circuit, and by using one chip for constant current drive, linearity is improved over a wide band. Highly reliable CAN type transistors are used for all stages, and ± 2 power supply system with constant voltage is used for all stages. Type Preamplifier. Frequency response 2Hz to 80kHz. Total harmonic distortion 0.007% Input sensitivity 2.5mV (MM), 150mV (line) Signal to noise ratio 65dB (MM) Semiconductors 92 x transistors, 59 x diodes. Dimensions 19W x 7H x 9.65D. Weight 22 lbs.
