Enjoy the pure sound from vinyl records with this audiophile Ariston RD-80 SL Transcription Deck Turntable, with a Linn Basik LV-X graphite straight-line tone arm, and mounted with a Supex SD 900/E + Super moving coil cartridge, plus the turntable’s owner’s manual. I am the original owner and purchased the turntable new in 1980. I am selling it, reluctantly, due to moving to a smaller home without a dedicated music room. This vintage piece of hi-fi history is in great condition, both operationally and cosmetically (no warranty). There are a few minor marks on the unit’s original dust cover, a couple of small scratches in the wood base, and the platen cover could be cleaned again if you are really particular; please examine all photos. I will have the turntable professionally packed and shipped to you, but I highly recommend that upon receipt you take this precision instrument to a reputable hi-fi shop for calibration and a new belt. Please note that moving coil phono cartridges require a “head amp” (not included) either built-in to your pre-amp (like the Carver C-1), or added as an external device. The acrylic platter removes some of the splashiness in the upper mids, that glass platters are known for. The Linn tonearm is in great condition, and the bearings are tight, with no play. There are minor scratches, which could easily be repainted. Includes the cover, but it has a piece broken off from the back. Let me add, that the foam wedge dampers in the springs are fairly old, and should be replaced. This is an extremely easy and cheap process, and any good audio forum should have members that can help. The Linn Basik LV X arm operates perfectly and is in excellent condition with great bearings and comes with the standard arm cable and new Linn suspension. It also has the original Valhalla PSU which is in great shape. OverviewPoints of note (pictured)There are some light signs of use on the plinth top near the back left edge and on the front left edge. The arm has some light marks on the head shell from previous cartridge fittings. There are some light surface scratches to the lid but it is very presentable.The glue for the serial number sticker on the rear has lost some strength in some areas.This deck is an excellent entry level specification example that represents excellent value for money.
