Get ready to be blown away by the sound quality of these Linn Majik 140 speakers. New these speakers would set you back over $4000. I have had them in my Linn system for 13 years.They have been adult owned and operated since new and driven with a variety of high end gear. They have never been over-driven, never stressed, never abused. They work as intended and sound AMAZING. I replaced them with a set of Linn 242s (if you know Linn gear) which are close to triple the price new and I bet I only gained 5% increase in sound quality. I would rate them conservatively 7/10 based on cosmetics alone. There are a couple dings here and there, the bases have chips on the corners that have been touched up. One of the tweeter screens had a tiny dent, however it does not touch the driver and is only cosmetic. Looking through the pictures you will see a ding on the edge of one speaker. I have to thank a cat knocking a potted plant into it years ago. The cheap speaker terminal jumpers have long since been lost as they were replaced with thick copper jumpers. They can be cut to allow Bi-amping, Tri-amping or removed completely and run Aktiv with Linn amplifiers. I only ever ran them passive. I have the original foam bungs that plug the rear ports and the original shipping boxes. There are spiked feet not shown in the pictures. I will pack them very carefully and ship UPS. In fact, when Linn launched these speakers (in conjunction with their AV51 system), they were part of this complex setup that included Linn’s AV processor, multiple amps and a variety of AV speakers that made up a $27,000 package. If you had a chance to listen this system when they were auditioning at the hifi shows, you would have walked out of that room with your lower jaw on the floor. It was such a surreal experience listening to music and watching a movie in that room.The AV 5140 is the result of critical acoustic and performance considerations.
