Description
Krell KAV-300r remote controlled integrated stereo receiver (used). S/N: 9600020394. February 2000 vintage unit. One owner. Original owner sent to Krell for repair but declined the repair estimate. Being a huge fan of this particular Krell product, when I learned of these circumstances I recued it from Krell so it could live to provide great sound to some lucky owner once again. Unit repaired by Krell during July 2022. Capacitor maintenance performed in both channels (*). Unit calibrated back to factory spec. See copy of repair invoice in pictures. FYI: Other than the December 1999 vintage KAV-300r unit that I also have for sale, no other Krell KAV-300i/r currently up for sale on either eBay or Audiogon states that it has been serviced by the original manufacturer before being put up for sale. As an integrated amplifier, unit works flawlessly. Tuner module works but it’s reception is not as good as it once was (IE: does not pick up as many stations - no AM - limited FM). Krell can do nothing about this. Replacement tuner modules are not available. Because many of us stream internet radio today this should not be an issue for most. Cosmetically I would give it a B rating simply because it has marks/dings/scuffs here and there from years of being moved around into different rooms in its previous environment. Unit will ship in original Krell packing along with most standard accessories: remote control, AC cord, 12 volt trigger cable, AM/FM analog antennas (2), copy of owner’s manual. The tuner trimmer adjustment tool not available. As a precaution, packed unit will ship inside an outer cardboard box for added protection. *The design platform of the KAV-300r, like that of the KAV-300i, is “old school” analog or “through hole” circuitry. Meaning that years down the road, should it develop a distortion problem again, it could still be successfully repaired. FYI: Back in 1995, Krell first introduced the KAV-300i (***). The very first true “hi-end” integrated amplifier. It sounded like $4K or $5K worth of hi-end separate components but had a retail price of $1,995.00. It also introduced/included a “theater throughput” function that allowed one to integrate the KAV-300i into an existing system with a surround sound receiver. This product was very successful for Krell. As such they sold “thousands” of these units all over the world up till maybe early/mid2000. ***Electrically, sonically, performance wise, the KAV-300i and the KAV-300r are exactly the same unit. Due to customer demand, Krell eventually made a version of the KAV-300i with a Day Sequerra digital tuner module installed, hence the KAV-300r was born. Even today, all these years later, this is still a great start up unit for those who are looking to make the transition into a more performance oriented stereo hi-fi system. Unit for sale in the continental United States and Canada only. FYI: My profile states that I do not accept returns, which is true. That said, if anything I sell has a problem or defect of some kind, I will always make it right for the buyer. Any doubts? Please check my feedback.
