Kenwood c2 preamp works good with no issues. Cosmetically in good condition except there are scratches on the top of it.

The Kenwood Basic C2 is highly regarded in the audio world as a terrific value in a used preamp. One of the nicer features is it can handle both MM & MC cartridges. There were a few design flaws that can be correctred with new diodes and opamps. Not only were those replaced but all of the electrolytic caps were replaced with Panasonic, Nichicon FG & Muse caps, many of the caps were bypassed with film capacitors for quick response and a more refined sound. In addition to those upgrades the chassis and boards had damping material applied. A copper IEC power inlet was installed on the back and the wire to the accessory power inputs is solid core Anit-Cable cryo treated wire. I also installed a complete set of gold plated RCA connectors in place of those junky base metal ones that come with the units. I made a power cable from 16AWG AudioQuest wire and both ends are brass (no nickel allowed as it sounds really bad). The wire from the power bar to the on/off switch was also upgraded. The top cover had a couple of scratches so I painted it with QuietKote (anti-vibration paint) and then black spray paint in addition to the damping material on the underside of it. The feet are EAR damping feet from Partsexpress. The preamp looks and sounds great. There is a post on AudioKarma about which vintage premaps are the best, the Basic C2 ia mentioned over and over... I have included a screen shot of the first reply. Also on AudioKarma there is a post Basic C2 Restoration and I have some photos of this unit on that blog. Kenwood Basic C2, C-2 Guten Tag, ich versteigere einen funktionsfähigen Vorverstärker von Kenwood. Optisch schon etwas mitgenommen; kleinere Kratzer auf der Frontplatte sind vorhanden. Die Oberseite (Deckel) ist ziemlich verkratzt. Ein Knopf (Tone dB Treble) ist nicht original. Die Originalfüße fehlen, es wurden lediglich kleine Gummifüße angebracht, damit das Gerät im Regal möglichst flach ist. (siehe Bilder) Alle LEDs, Schalter und Regler sind in Ordnung. Den Phono-Eingang konnte ich nicht testen. Dem Photo aus dem Hifi-Jahrbuch kann man die wesentlichen technischen Daten entnehmen. Eine Fernbedienung gibt es (natürlich) nicht, eine Bedienungsanleitung habe ich leider auch nicht. Kann man aber im Internet finden. Der abgebildete Yamaha-Tuner T-960II ist nicht Bestandteil der Auktion. Gerne Abholung mit vorherigem Test in Bonn. Versand nur innerhalb von Deutschland. I am selling a very old vintage preamplifier of the Japanese brand Kenwood. The preamp has a very very high quality and crystal clear sound, it was made in the good old days in Japan, which has nothing to do with todays new audio equipment in stores. There are also good sound settings and tweaks. It is in very good condition, minimal signs of use, there are some minor scuff marks here and there, which can be seen in the photos. Overall it works very well and sounds very nice.
