These two Kef reference speakers are in excellent condition. Inherited from the original owner, they have been in climate controlled storage, having been recently removed from a cherished working system. Grill cover is good condition Included is the hard to find Kef Kube, a hard-wired equalizer for bass-extension, considered mandatory for best performance by the manufacturer. Up for sale is a pair of unique, high quality Vintage KEF Model 103.2 Reference Series speakers - these are handmade in England, and are quite the speakers for any audiophile. Both speakers were tested and perform very nicely, all drivers tested well. Reference Series Model 103.2 (1980-85) Model 103.2 was the successor to the highly regarded 103, and continued with the same two-way closed-box format, using an 8” bextrene coned bass driver which used the new three mounting-point chassis to allow mechanical decoupling from the cabinet. It was designed using KEF’s ‘total system design’ approach where drive units, filter networks and enclosures are studied and developed together to achieve a targeted response. The result was a loudspeaker which achieved a broad frequency response with optimum efficiency and yet a surprisingly small enclosure of just 19 litres. Consistent with all models in the Reference range, 103.2 included S-Stop protection circuitry, and all production systems benefited from KEF’s Reference methodology which matched the response of every system to within 1dB of the design reference, with each pair matched to within 0.5dB of each other.

KEF Reference 103/3 Bare Replacement Speaker Cabinet Black. We offer this for someone who has a dropped or crushed 103/3. That needs a new box. Bare cabinet, no crossover, no binding post, no grill, no screws. It still shows fairly good still. The box has 2 small worn areas on the rear top edges, nothing to bad. But they are there. A few light brush marks on the sides of white dry wall flat white rub stains, not at all deep marks. Minor wear only elsewhere. The face is nice. The KEF emblem is there but spins in place, needs glue. The midrange foam is there, the interior foam is there. The bottom plate port area has a tiny stain that does not distract very much. Heavy very well crafted cabinet to replace a crushed or dropped 103/3. This would be perfect. Is it mint or new no but, cared for. No lemon oil polish was added to hide anything for this sale. Shows as it is. We do not have the other cabinet, it was damaged. While this is a empty cabinet yes, its vintage KEF and still is fairly heavy on its own. Nothing light about this series of speakers.
