Instead of using noisy solenoids, weve used the inertial power of the motor to operate all mode changes. Now, with only a soft touch, any operation mode is quickly, silently and reliably selected. A logic system makes it impossible to jam, stretch or break tapes, or damage the transport in any way. Rec/Play head of the KD-V11 out of Metaperm, an alloy that provides pure Hi-Fi sound with extended, low-noise response. The special surface contour of the head prevents an unnatural rise in mid-bass response known as the contour effect. Its high linearity makes it perfect for use with all tape formulations including metal, the tape of audiophiles. Dolby B noise reduction (and the essentially similar ANRS) has become the way to reduce hiss to manageable levels. At frequencies above 5kHz, hiss is reduced by up to 10dB.
