Beovox S 80(1981-1982)Type numbers: 6414, 6424Description Beovox S 80 was the largest of the last generation of the S range to be a pressure chamber in construction. It had a solid plywood cabinet with a chipboard back covered in black vinyl A moulded resin front which was screwed to the cabinet to house the drivers. Two grilles were fitted to the front by plastic pegs and the gap in between housed an indicator for speaker overload and a reset button. To remove the drivers, it was necessary to remove the front panel as the units were attached by screws or brackets at the rear. The construction of the entire last group of these speakers followed a similar vein with a round removable panel holding the high range units. In the case of the S 80 this contained a 2.5cm dome tweeter and a 7.5cm SEAS phase link unit. These were both contained in a separate resin cabinet inside the speaker cabinet and the cross over, which also contained the overload circuit, was mounted on a circuit board attached to the back. The woofer was a 21cm Peerless unit with a foam rubber roll edge. These combined to provide a wide frequency response and no audible phase distortion. Overload protection was automatic. Beovox S 80(1981-1982)Type numbers: 6414, 6424Description Beovox S 80 was the largest of the last generation of the S range to be a pressure chamber in construction. It had a solid plywood cabinet with a chipboard back covered in black vinyl A moulded resin front which was screwed to the cabinet to house the drivers. Two grilles were fitted to the front by plastic pegs and the gap in between housed an indicator for speaker overload and a reset button. To remove the drivers, it was necessary to remove the front panel as the units were attached by screws or brackets at the rear. The construction of the entire last group of these speakers followed a similar vein with a round removable panel holding the high range units. In the case of the S 80 this contained a 2.5cm dome tweeter and a 7.5cm SEAS phase link unit. These were both contained in a separate resin cabinet inside the speaker cabinet and the cross over, which also contained the overload circuit, was mounted on a circuit board attached to the back. The woofer was a 21cm Peerless unit with a foam rubber roll edge. These combined to provide a wide frequency response and no audible phase distortion. Overload protection was automatic.
