Description
Beautiful vintage JVC QL-Y5F Quartz-Locked Fully-Automatic Direct Drive Turntable. Absolutely immaculate. This is a one-owner hi-fidelity unit with the original shipping box from purchase on May5, 1981 (see photo of box and shipping information). Super rare original dust cover in perfect working order (note picture with “QuaratzLock” emblem in center) with only a few light brush marks. Upgraded Herbie’s Audio Lab “Way Excellent II” turntable mat. Stunning piece in gorgeous high polished rosewood plinth. Stanton 881S stylus in perfect condition. Even comes with the original owner manual/instruction booklet with registration cards. Please see photos and feel free to request additional photos as the photos in this listing were just taken with my phone and don’t really highlight the pristine condition properly. Dubbed The Flagship of JVCs Fine Line of Turntables when it was released in 1980, the QL-Y5F is simply stunning to look at and even better mechanically! Try finding a current model turntable this good 40 years later and you will be hard pressed! Sony, Denon and Hitachi models are always near the top in vintage turntables, but none have proven to be as reliable as the JVCs. I am the sole original owner and bought this turntable 43 years ago. It has been tucked away in it’s original shipping box and stored in our climate-controlled home since the late ‘80’s. I literally just plugged it in, loaded an album and it fired right up (see video). Quartz-Lock’s perfectly at 33 & 45 RPM. Unlike belt-driven turntables from that era (ever see a 43 year old rubber band…not much left of it) no maintenance was required to get it up and running. They dont make them like this anymore. Shipping cost includes packing, handling and insurance. US SALES ONLY. (Ships to the 48 US Mainland States). Price comparison Information: Similar JVC QLY-55F Recently sold on Reverb for $1,800 (Note – this one similar model is labeled “Mint” but condition is not near the condition of this listing…see scratches and dings on comparative listing) Stanton 881S Stylus Recently sold on Reverb for $599 Herbie’s Audio Lab Way Excellent II Mat $90 I will overbox with an additional box and padding for added shipping protection. The turntable will only ship to the address listed on Ebay. I will only ship to a legitimate street address. FedEx does not ship to P.O. boxes. Furthermore, I ONLYSHIP WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL USA (48 States.) All merchandise is sold as is. There are no refunds, and all sales are final. That is to protect us from the few dishonest Ebayers who play switch and blame, parts pirates, etc. I state the condition of the item to the best of my ability. Since the equipment in this listing is vintage/preowned, there are no warrantees or guarantees available. Please thoroughly read the listing description as I pride myself on accurate descriptions and pictures. If you have any questions please feel free to email me about the auction. I will respond as quickly as possible and could always provide additional photo’s if you have any concerns. I include insurance free of charge on all of the items that I sell. Under no circumstances will an auction be terminated early as this would be unfair to fellow Ebayers and to the seller.
