There are rings of red illumination around the volume and subwoofer volume dials.Twin Hyper Power-Drive Subwoofer: The JVC MX-J900 features a four-channel amp with two front-firing 7-7/8 woofers and an extra pair of Twin Hyper Power-Drive 7-7/8 Subwoofers. Each Hyper Power-Drive Subwoofer receives 150 watts. There is an 8-Step subwoofer level control.Sleep timer (remote only): Selectable for 10/20/30/60/90/120 minutes.Recording Timer: You may set the unit to automatically turn on and record a FM or AM broadcast.Daily Timer: The daily timer may be set to automatically turn on the desired source (tuner, tape, CD, AUX) at a specific time then automatically turn off.Sound Modes: Using a button on the front panel and the remote, you may select from three surround effect modes (Dance Club, Hall and Stadium), three S.E.A. effect modes (Rock, Classic and Pop) and off or; three user modes (manual 1, 2 and 3). The three manual modes allow you to modify a surround mode by a range of -3 to +3 in any of three bands (low, mid or high) and to store the results.Powered Rolling Front Panel: When you turn the system on, the main control panel rolls open to provide access to the main control buttons. While the system is on, you may press the panel open/close button to close the panel without turning the system off. If the panel is open and you turn the unit off, the panel rolls to conceal the control buttons. When the panel is closed, there are no visible control buttons directly below the display window.Mute/fade button (remote control only): Gradually ramps volume down or up when pressed again.Memory Backup: Memory backup is for tuner presets only, clock settings will be lost whenever power is lost. Without power, the presets will remain in memory for two to three days.CD FeaturesThree single trays: Each tray has an open/close button and disc select.CD Compatibility: This unit will play prerecorded CDs and finalized CD-Rs, but it will not play CD-RW discs. Additionally, each tray takes a 3 or 5 CD.Disc Exchange: You can swap any disc in a tray while another disc is playing.16-track music calendarTrack Programming: Lets you program a sequence of up to 32 songs for playback in any order.Random play: Randomly play tracks from all discs loaded (only does one disc random play when only one disc is loaded).Repeat play: Repeats program, track, discs, or random play.Elapsed time for track: The display will show total number of tracks and total disc time when the CD is stopped. While a CD is playing, track number and elapsed time for the track will be displayed.Direct track access (remote only) and CD direct recording buttonTray Lock: This feature allows you to keep discs from ejecting.Optical digital output (Toslink): The rear panel optical digital output allows you to make a direct digital recording to a digital recording device such as a MiniDisc or CD-R from the CD Changer.Cassette FeaturesDual well, auto-reverse tape decks: Plays both sides of a tape without you having to take it out and flip it over.Full logic tape transport: Often referred to as a soft-touch design, a full-logic transports controls require less effort to use than older style mechanical transports.Recording: You can do normal speed dubbing from Deck A to Deck B, using type I and type II tapes only. Deck A does not have recording capabilities.Auto tape EQ: The cassette decks automatically determine the proper bias setting, and allow you to play type I, II and IV tapes.Automatic music search (AMS): Automatically locates the beginning of a song from fast forward or rewind, by finding the silent spaces between songs.CD Direct recording: CD Synchro records a CD to tape by just pushing the CD Rec start button.Auto Edit Recording: Selects CD tracks in numerical order but in order to prevent the end of the last track from being cut off it selects a last track so as to fit on the remaining tape length.
