Description
This transformer comes from a tape machine setup. This is the exact same shielding case and very similar pin diameter and aspec, same pinout and and also the potting compound color and feel are very close when compared to the other JENSEN transformer in my other auctions. It differs slightly, has no model number and also a bit different specs when tested, but nothing that big. I guess its an early render or a prototype or something tgat was in one of the cards from the taoe recorder I took them from. It is PERFECT for MC-step-up, close to a Western Electric 618B, with just a little lower turns ratio. Originally used as a tape head to preamp input, its a recording studio quality transformer made by Jensen transformers back in the golden era of tube and discrete audio electronics. Its a really rare find! I used to have more of these, but sold them all on Ebay, a long time ago. This is the last pair Ive kept for personal use, but Ill have to also let these go now. You wont see this very often. Seems like a custom job from Jensen. I actually never seen anything alike. I just know the transformers from these cards are made by Jensen transformers because I collect professional audio transformers for over 25 years now, and I know this is jensens mumetal case, a Jensen part number (starts with JE) and also classic Jensen letter printing on model name and soldering pins, and although this particular one lacks the last bit, all the other transformers that looks pretty similar and came from the same cards had those Jensen signature marks. It has all the other Jensen characteristics thought. I know my stuff, and have tested transformers from all of the very best manufacturers, vintage and new production, likeJorgen Shou JS, Western Electric, Langevin, Marinair, Parmeko, Partridge, UTC, Tamura, Peerless, Triad, Thordarson, Chicago, Beyerdynamic, Altec, Telefunken, Malotki, Siemens, Seinnheiser, Lundahl, Raphaelite, Haufe, Pikatron, Sowter, etc. These are my tests: Pri 11R resistance Sec 167R resistance 1:9 turns ratio Impedances: Primary 15 - 100 ohms Secondary 1k2-8k ohms These are possible impedance ratio connections with these wonderful transformers: 15:1k2 ohms 20:1k6 ohms 30:2k4 ohms 40:3k2 ohms 10:2k ohms 50:4k ohms 60:4k8 ohms 75:6k ohms 100:8k ohms Its just perfect for most low impedance MC cartridges. Buy this and use it to make your preferred moving coil cartridges come alive. This transformer was born to shine with the best cartridges from Ortofon, Shure, Denon, Accuphase, Goldring, Nagoka, Audio Technica, ADC, Roksan, Rega, Koetsu, Grado, Clearaudio, Sumiko, Benz Micro, My Sonic Lab, Hana, ZYX, Miyajima, Vertere Acoustics, Ana Mighty Sound, Charisma Audio, Allnic Audio, Soundsmith, Lyra, Acoustical Systems, MoFi, Shelter, etc. The inductance is high and the resistance of the windings are low. This is a SOLID option made by one of the Americas greatest audio transformer manufacturing companies. I can provide professional wiring info to the buyer, if needed. Get these while you can! Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 limitations (yes, still), I cant ship to Australia. Dont ask me why. More good audio parts in my other items. Make sure you check it!
