Offered for your consideration is a JBL 5¼ inch shielded woofer removed from my TLX Center2 center channel speaker, c.1997. This hefty mid/bass driver may have also been used other JBL TLX-series speakers, but buyer is fully responsible for making that determination accurately.So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable JBL mid/bass woofer is correct for your needs. *Although the listing is written in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) identical JBL 5¼” woofers are available at time of this writing. This JBL woofer is in clean, very good condition. It has a sturdy poly-coated paper cone that’s flawless and the voice coil dustcap has no dimples whatsoever. Plus, the surround is foam, but it was evidently factory-treated to prevent the typical decay. Also, the black-enameled steel basket is in great shape with no dings, scratches, or rust, while the galvanized magnet ‘bell’ cover has a bit of oxidation. And, the +/- terminals have never been soldered on the spades and are keyed for polarity (larger spade with red dot = positive). Overall, this driver is quite well preserved. Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds perfect—strong, clean midrange coverage with ample low-end for the platform size. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 4.6-4.7? consistent with a nominal 6 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket flange measure 5” in diameter (yes, the JBL specs sheet should call this a 5” driver, not 5¼”), it stands 2?” tall, and mount holes are 3?” adjacent / 4?” diagonal apart, c-t-c. This is a great find if your suitable period JBL’s have a blown mid/bass driver and will have your speakers sounding their best again in no time. Offered for your consideration is a JBL 5¼ inch shielded woofer removed from my TLX Center2 center channel speaker, c.1997. This hefty mid/bass driver may have also been used other JBL TLX-series speakers, but buyer is fully responsible for making that determination accurately.So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable JBL mid/bass woofer is correct for your needs. *Although the listing is written in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) identical JBL 5¼” woofers are available at time of this writing. Please choose if you’d like to buy one or both in the quantity field at the top of the listing. The shipping cost will be automatically calculated by eBay checkout. This JBL woofer is in clean, very good condition. It has a sturdy poly-coated paper cone that’s flawless and the voice coil dustcap has no dimples whatsoever. Plus, the surround is foam, but it was evidently factory-treated to prevent the typical decay. Also, the black-enameled steel basket is in great shape with no dings, scratches, or rust, while the galvanized magnet ‘bell’ cover has a bit of oxidation. And, the +/- terminals have never been soldered on the spades and are keyed for polarity (larger spade with red dot = positive). Overall, this driver is quite well preserved. Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds perfect—strong, clean midrange coverage with ample low-end for the platform size. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 4.6-4.7? consistent with a nominal 6 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket flange measure 5” in diameter (yes, the JBL specs sheet should call this a 5” driver, not 5¼”), it stands 2?” tall, and mount holes are 3?” adjacent / 4?” diagonal apart, c-t-c. This is a great find if your suitable period JBL’s have a blown mid/bass driver and will have your speakers sounding their best again in no time. Great units for speaker project duty if you buy both!As pictured and described, this great-sounding JBL 5¼” woofer is offered at a competitive price.
