There is wear and tear with marks and scratches. We have tested this item by connecting it to our laptop through the Flash drive USB. The sub and speakers work. There is a volume for the sub woofer, but not the speakers. The volume is controlled by the laptop. When the laptop sound is high, the music through the speaker are very tinny, like it is struggling. Our laptop is a low end value laptop with no special characteristics, so the sound might be better through a different compatible device. When the volume is about 50%, the sound is good.
