Description
This one of a few equalizers from what was called “The good stack” of grandpa’s sound equipment before he shut down the studio. TESTING: I have confirmed it does turn on, and pressing different buttons makes different leds light up…but that’s as far as it goes. All the knobs and levers move smoothly and the buttons all press well. And as mentioned before, it came from what he called “The good stack”, so I think DEFECTS: As of this posting, it only has 3 out of 4 feet, (see photos) so it wobbles. And of course it does have some minor cosmetic damage (scratches/ dings). Since he’s a grandpa, he clearly had kids. :-) ————————————————————- DETAILS FROM THE MANUFACTURER: Even the best stereo system can only provide flat frequency response in a perfect listening environment. Unfortunately, most living rooms are far from perfect. Windows, walls, and bare floors make the highs sound shrill. Upholstered furniture and plush carpets tend to absorb the highs. Walls adjacent to speakers can make the bass sound muddy. If the balance between soft and hard surfaces isn't perfect, the system's frequency response won't be perfect either. That's why Harman Kardon has created the EQ8. It allows compensation, octave by octave, for all of the imperfections found in listening environments. It allows for boost or cut of each octave by up to 12dB, giving as much range as is ever likely to be needed for contouring of sound. The subsonic filter is continuously adjustable from 5Hz to 30Hz. By using the lowest turnover frequency, which successfully eliminates any subsonic problem, the user can minimize the filtering effects on the system's bass response. The EQ8 has input level controls and overload indicators for easy comparison of equalized sound. It also has accommodations for an extra tape monitor loop. In addition, the input sensitivity (135mV) and overload level (7 Volts) allow the use of the EQ8 in either the tape monitor loop, or between preamp output and main input. In addition to enhancing a home component system, the EQ8 can equalize a cassette for a car or portable. The EQ8 from Harman Kardon. It's the perfect equalizer, for the imperfect listening environment. We are currently in the middle of clearing out and going through my father-in-law's former possessions. He was an Engineer, Pawn Shop owner, Music Enthusiast, and quite a bit of a Tech and Tool guy during his time. That being said, he had a TON of stuff, and I cannot guarantee the items posted on here will meet it's exact function. I do try my best to test everything I list, and I will mention what has been tested or not tested on each item, but all items are sold AS-IS. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to purchase.
