This is a re engineered Hafler DH-100 Stereo Preamp. It has been modified and designed as a dedicated Stereo Phono preamp with outboard upgraded very heavy duty power supply. It has upgraded parts and mostly works, but will need attention, diagnosed, repair. The listing also includes what looks to be a Brand new Hafler DH-100 Circuit board with some extra upgraded chassis parts, etc. An experienced Tech could, if they wish, install the new board into this chassis for a full function Hafler DH-100 stereo preamp. Tom Tutay is well respected for his Audio Engineering talents and excellent performance in the components he designed, updated, etc. All has always been in a climate controlled non smoking environment. The two large old 10,000uf 75v electrolytic capacitors replaced with new Cornell dubliner 30,000uf/75v these caps alone will cost you $160 alone at dig key , the non polar dc blocking capacitors are nichicon MUSE capacitor and the 220uf/80v electrolytic capacitors , important high wattage resistors are vishay quality ones , the bias adjusted to conservative 230 mA for cool running . New on/off switch installed , the output MOSFET transistors are all original factory matched made by Hitachi there are total of eight of them . The old white grease in output transistors was cleaned out and new better grease installed for cool running and better performance After the above recent service was performed the amplifier was tested and it’s produces truly awesome sound! David Hafler DH100 preamp. Estate Sale find. Classic solidstate preamplifier designed by one of the best. A few minor scratches on the top but solid working condition. Cleaned inside and out, deoxed all controls and lubed so they work smooth and sliently. It powered up fine and works as designed. If youre looking for a straight forward, well designed preamp that wont break the bank, this is it. The Hafler DH-100 preamplifier is a vintage preamp that has been around for a while. It is known for its clean sound and workhorse-like reliability. It has been reviewed as having a warm low-mid bass, otherwise neutral balance with very good detail and resolution.
