Medion MD84467 high quality German build sound base. Excellent condition & perfect working order. Comes complete with all the original accessories. With the MD84467, MEDION offers a new active sound base for installation under your own TV set, which offers not only conventional connection options but also a Bluetooth streaming function and NFC. The sound base delivers a total output power of 80 watts RMS and is designed as a 2-way system + integrated subwoofer. An integrated digital sound processor is intended to ensure a pleasant sound experience and pronounced spatiality. The MEDION Soundbase mainly consists of a metal housing and measures 60.3 x 9.2 x 32 cm. Judging by its own weight, MEDION has integrated solid components. Apart from a status LED, nothing breaks through the matt black metal grille front, which is surrounded by the high-gloss black plastic parts on the left and right. The sides themselves are matt on the left and right. The controls are kept fairly simple, but have an excellent pressure point and are well fitted. The look of the soundbase is not characterized by extravagance, the design seems more functional and simple, However, it also radiates a certain elegance - only the high-gloss side panel elements could also be matt according to our taste. The MEDION Soundbase has a solid build quality, seems stable and carries TVs up to 45 kg.Since the television should stand reliably and securely on top, an optimal position of the sound base is elementary. As with many other manufacturers, the chassis responsible for the low-frequency range can be found on the underside. The MD84467 also radiates downwards, instead of one subwoofer with a larger membrane surface, two subwoofer chassis were chosen, which are powered by 40 watts RMS and are protected with a plastic grille similar to a fan. The remote control has a compact format, fits comfortably in your hand and allows all buttons to be operated comfortably with one hand. The various inputs all have a dedicated, colored button - which corresponds to the color of the status LED - and in addition to the volume setting, you can directly intervene in the sound output with rudimentary bass/treble controls. Two AAA batteries are included for the remote control. Lets turn to the acoustic properties of the MEDION Soundbase and start with film sound. Here again, it should be noted that the MD84467 does not have a decoder for Dolby Digital or DTS on board. As a rule, all current Blu-ray Disc players have such a decoder on board and reliably transmit the PCM signal that the sound base can process. With the first scene of the second chapter in Christopher Nolans Batman trilogy, we expect a lot from the MEDION device. Anyone who knows The Dark Knight also knows that the soundtrack of this Blu-ray was mixed relatively quietly. So we have to crank up the soundbase a bit, to be able to enjoy a spectacular film atmosphere - minimal background noise can be heard at high volume, but it is not annoying and depending on the size of the room and the film, this is irrelevant. But then we have to admit that the MEDION Soundbase welcomes us with a powerful and voluminous backdrop, which we would have expected from the still compact speaker in this form. The first drumbeat could be a tad cleaner and more structured, but the following bank robbery is thrilling and is played with high dynamics. The integration of individual acoustic elements that have to be integrated into the room is particularly pleasing. A more than solid three-dimensionality is generated here, which certainly offers some surround feeling. The digital sound processor that creates this impression is enabled by default. The Uzi shots are also provided with the appropriate sharpness and succeed authentically. The underlying foundation is also demonstrated very well, the speech intelligibility is always high despite the action-packed events. When William Fichtner unpacks his shotgun, the sound base once again shines with punch and volume. The level stability is also to be commended, apart from the slight background noise in areas above 90% we cannot determine any compression.With such a successful performance, the MEDION product can of course also try its hand at music. With the MD84467 Soundbase, MEDION relies on acoustic performance and proves this with both film sound and music in Blu-ray/DVD mode. Even with playback via Bluetooth, the result is absolutely impressive. The sound base, which also serves as a stand for a TV up to a maximum of 45 kg, is dynamic, rousing and powerful. There is still a bit of a problem with the connection equipment with only one HDMI input and at least a Dolby Digital decoder would be desirable. On balance however, the price is absolutely justified thanks to the pleasant and lively acoustics. TA DELTA 30B Omni directional vintage speakers (matching pair) This design is based on the famous Sonab system. The sound stage is absolutely stunning. They project a tight crisp audio image with very fine detail into every location of a room. 42 x 32 x 18 cm approx. Searching for info about TA is like looking for a needle in a hay stack.The reason there are so few is that they cost a small fortune back in the 1970s. Years ago I repaired both bass units [ because of perished foam cone suspension ] with Copydex which in my experience is a perfect adhesive for effective long lasting cone surround repairs. I did not test the result at the time, in fact I forgot about them altogether, using the grills as storage trays for bits and pieces. I even imagined they might have become useless. Many years later, out of curiosity I hooked them up again. I couldnt believe my ears.To make sure I played Erikah Badu: RIMSHOT. This is a good track to test bass performance. Amplification used: Quad 34/303. Glorious deep bass, crystal clear mid range and a nicely rounded and very smooth top end. These small wonders will give any pair of high end speakers twice their size and five times their price a good run for the money. They sound better than some of my other favourite small speakers, for example my old Linn Kanns with Kef B110 bass units. The Linns B110s also also have leaky rubber surrounds, which I patched with copydex. Some of these repaired B-110s produce clean bottom end with most well recorded tracks. Except with RIMSHOT. The subsonic frequencies of that track cause coil rattle in Copydex repaired B110s, possibly because of non linear cone movement. The point here is that the TA bass units look a mess but the Copydex surround does its job perfectly. If this all sounds implausible, buy a good CD of Baduism, NOT an MP3!! and use it to test your favourite speakers.Despite the rough looking finish, neither of the die cast alloy frame TA woofers have audible problems andneither do any of the 4 cone tweeters. Re spares: I do have a pair of high efficiency vented coil LF drivers, not TF. . I have not fitted them. My attitude is if its not broke DONT fix it. These woofers are for sale as potential replacements at a low price if required. The MEDION Soundbase mainly consists of a metal housing and measures 60.3 x 9.2 x 32 cm. Judging by its own weight, MEDION has integrated solid components. Apart from a status LED, nothing breaks through the matt black metal grille front, which is surrounded by the high-gloss black plastic parts on the left and right. The sides themselves are matt on the left and right. The controls are kept fairly simple, but have an excellent pressure point and are well fitted. The look of the soundbase is not characterized by extravagance, the design seems more functional and simple, However, it also radiates a certain elegance - only the high-gloss side panel elements could also be matt according to our taste. The MEDION Soundbase has a solid build quality, seems stable and carries TVs up to 45 kg.Since the television should stand reliably and securely on top, an optimal position of the sound base is elementary. As with many other manufacturers, the chassis responsible for the low-frequency range can be found on the underside. The MD84467 also radiates downwards, instead of one subwoofer with a larger membrane surface, two subwoofer chassis were chosen, which are powered by 40 watts RMS and are protected with a plastic grille similar to a fan. The MEDION Soundbase offers a conventional analog stereo cinch input and a jack connection as a line input. There are also two digital inputs, one coaxial and one optical. The soundbase is also equipped with a single HDMI input that also supports Audio Return Channel (ARC) functionality. Thats solid, but if youre already equipped with HDMI, you should offer both an input and an output if you want to implement a flexible single-cable connection. The remote control has a compact format, fits comfortably in your hand and allows all buttons to be operated comfortably with one hand. The various inputs all have a dedicated, colored button - which corresponds to the color of the status LED - and in addition to the volume setting, you can directly intervene in the sound output with rudimentary bass/treble controls. Here again, it should be noted that the MD84467 does not have a decoder for Dolby Digital or DTS on board. The integration of individual acoustic elements that have to be integrated into the room is particularly pleasing. A more than solid three-dimensionality is generated here, which certainly offers some surround feeling. The digital sound processor that creates this impression is enabled by default. The Uzi shots are also provided with the appropriate sharpness and succeed authentically. The underlying foundation is also demonstrated very well, the speech intelligibility is always high despite the action-packed events. One click on the name and the connection is established within seconds. We use Spotify for playback and listen to the new Madsen album Kompass. The complex stage is implemented well by the soundbase and the individual instruments can be easily differentiated. The voice is central and seems quite characteristic, even if fine facets are missing. The whole thing could sound a bit fuller down below, but overall a very solid performance that is intoxicating and very lively. With the MD84467 Soundbase, MEDION relies on acoustic performance and proves this with both film sound and music in Blu-ray/DVD mode. Even with playback via Bluetooth, the result is absolutely impressive. The sound base, which also serves as a stand for a TV up to a maximum of 45 kg, is dynamic, rousing and powerful. There is still a bit of a problem with the connection equipment with only one HDMI input and at least a Dolby Digital decoder would be desirable. On balance however, the price is absolutely justified thanks to the pleasant and lively acoustics.
