Hi. I have for sale a Garrard SP25 mkIII record deck that is fitted with a Goldring cartridge, but is missing the stylus. I have unseized and lubricated the mechanism in the deck, added a new mains lead with a one amp fuse, and a chassis earth, and connected a mono audio lead. All the functions on the deck now work perfectly, and I assume the cartridge will be OK once a new stylus is fitted. I have fitted new connecting leads to the cartridge, as the old ones were tarnished. I think this deck was made in the late 1960s, early 1970s, and is typical of Garrards bomb proof decks from that era. It is meant to play single records, but can load the record automatically, and unload it and shut off once the record has finished. It also has a pause function with the cuing arm at the side of the tone arm. The base is loose, and I will leave it this way in case the new owner wants to wire it for stereo.The original dust cover is also included, this has some small cracks but is intact. This is a Fidelity UA1 vintage radio and record player that was discovered in a relatives loft where it has been for years and the following work has been carried out but there is more to do::1. The case was damaged at the rear corner and front top edge that holds the glass in and both have been re glued.2. The rotary controls have been lubricated along with the switches and so they all work now.3. The Garrard SP25 deck has been lubricated and now the arm return works correctly. The deck is extremely quiet and cartridge is a Goldring G800 but the stylus is not good and needs replacing - about £18 on ebay. The video shows a 78rpm being played because that is the only one the stylus will play and the other speeds are 33 and 45rpm. The deck is single play only4. A new dial light has been fitted.5. The balance control shaft was broken off and so the control has a slot cut into the end just in case it does need to be adjusted abd the knob is attached via a small rod. The radio on MW, LW and FM is very selective and selective and the output is about 10 watts per channel. No speakers are included and the output terminals for the speakers are phono sockets - if you want two spare plugs then let me know. Any questions?

garrard sp25 mk ii. I’m selling this# as spares or repairs. It does work but the auto return kicks in too soon. From the little I’ve googled this is a common problem with older decks of this sort. Old grease sticking, or something like that. It’s beyond my tinkering skills anyway, I could take it to bits fine but putting it back together……….. Cable was cut/remade as images but no difference Metered back from plug to cartridge and all at 0Ohms so circuit ok Cleaned up stylus pickups but no change Likely the stylus isn’t picking the channel up or their is dirt where it should hand it off Second is the arm doesn’t travel the full distance across the disc It plays about 1/3 of a 45 then stops as if there’s a scratch Read on web this is Likely a cause of old grease that hardens In reality, the kind of person looking at this will probably know these issues better than me but these are the only issues I have found The white connector block won’t be included as I use it for testing but again, likely buyers would probably replace the interconnect cable anyway as the Amo end connectors were damaged Bought by my brother new in late 60’s or early 70’s it has been looked after in a non-smoking, non-animal, centrally heated (24-26degrees!!) house since then - truly 1 careful owner!! Sold as seen with caveats as noted Prefer collection from PE19 area as heavy item and cannot guarantee so posted at your own preference- I will wrap as best I can

Garrard SP25 Mk III Record Deck Nice example of an SP25 in a genuine Garrard wooden plinth. It has been stripped down, all the old sticky grease cleaned off and re-greased, automatics freed off and motor lubricated. The Goldring G850 cartridge has a brand-new stylus fitted. It also has a new 3 core mains cable and audio cable fitted and it has been set up and fully tested and sounds very good for a classic deck. The automatic play system works as it should selecting the correct size selected on the speed control. Cosmetic condition is very nice including the plastic dustcover. The deck has some minor marks but is very good, please see pictures. The plinth has the colour worn off on the corners probably caused by the lid that sits over the edges, it could be corrected if you can find the right colour wax to do it. The platter has a very small dink in the aluminium and a mark near it. There may be other very marks and scratches not mentioned, to be expected of a used item, please see pictures. It comes with a re-print of the original instruction manual. It will work with any amplifier with a Phono input, it will also work with an Aux input but will require a pre-amp (about a tenner upwards) or it will sound very quiet and weedy.
