Offered for your consideration is one (1) GARRARD Type LRS3 Large Record Spindle, manufactured in England c.1967. This spindle is for playing large hole 7” 45 RPM records on GARRARD’s RC88 and RC98 record changers. The spindle comes in its retail box with sealed-bag spring clips and loose small rod, both of which I believe are original. It bears the old box that refers to four wood screws when only two are included in the bag with the, evidently, revised clips (or the print was an error all along?). The later box looks identical and has the screw quantity corrected to two. I just wanted to let you know that, unlike most sellers, I’m not oblivious to details, no matter how small. So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this useful GARRARD record changer accessory should be yours. This GARRARD LRS3 is in clean, excellent condition. There are no dings, cracks, or noteworthy scratches to the sturdy cream-colored metal and plastic housing, just some tiny, practically invisible marks from the years, as pictured. It’s in such nice shape that I can’t even be certain it’s ever been used? Overall, it presents exceptionally well. It is the part that transmits the weight of the turntable to the chassis. It is the lower race of the main thrust bearing. This is an important part of the Main Turntable bearing This part is used in most Garrard turntables from 1950- 1960, Lab 80 & Mk II Type A A70 RC 88 98 121 210 This is the washer that sits loosely on the main platter shaft. It is the upper race of the main thrust bearing. Often it gets lost, when the bearing is disassembled. Without this washer, the turntable will not ride on the bearing balls but slide metal on metal. The actual washer is shown in pictures 2 and 3. For illustration I am showing the main shaft and the bearing assembly. It is shown in pictures 1 - 5 This shaft is used in most Garrard turntables from 1950- 1960, Type A A70 RC 88 98 121 210 This is a main part of the platter bearing. Pls note that for proper function you will also need the upper bearing race washer, which fits at the bottom of the shart. Without this, the turntable will not run on the bearing balls.
