Never been tested. Got it from an estate sale. In pretty good condition i’d say and comes either the original box! I honestly don’t think this thing has ever been used but it’s quite dusty.

The pots on the mixing desk may be a little sticky at first, owing to a long period of inactivity, but should soon work fine after a short period of use. The R8 and mixing desk come with the necessary phono leads and jack plugs.’

This unit is small, portable has a little handle on the top as well as a detachable remote which clips to the front of the machine. The R8 has been used by Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. Incredibly rare 16ft control panel extension cable (Fostex model no. 8544). Allows user to detach control panel from the main body of the R8 and work remotely. I believe this is also suitable for Fostex G16 machines. Only used a handful of times.

FOSTEX R8 Reel to Reel Dont see them on here much? Im selling this for *parts or not working* only because I dont have the means to test it properly - I dont have enough kit to record on all channels at once and dont have a mixer to test all 8 channel outputs on. Ive had it playing/rewinding/fast forwarding, the motors all seem to work and I got 2 channels of playback from the 2 channels of output I could test with a regular stereo Aux. Im not too clued up with old analogue stuff so apologies for this! It does the scrolling FOSTEX at startup and the VU meters work, and I was able to get some monitoring input when selected. Tried to take pics from all angles and it seems to be solid enough. The 2 small tiddlywinks were loose in the box I got it in but they seem to pop onto the tape rollers. It comes with: A few reels of tape ( the small ones are new old stock) Full instruction manual Proper guide sheet for planning recordings A few sets of phono-jack cables Ive also thrown in a tape splicing kit that I had Its a very heavy bit of kit but will be packaged and shipped accordingly!
