This is the classic FR-64fx 20g effective mass dynamic VTF tonearm with original box and all original papers. Having been built in the mid 80’s, these notoriously suffer from broken dielectric on the internal wiring and the detrimental effects of 40 year old, gummed-up grease and bearing oil. Luckily, this unit has been completely disassembled, rewired, and cleaned. Synthetic lithium grease and light weight bearing oil were used to bring the arm back to 100% performance. Having listened to it before and after this process, I can definitely say it was a game changer. Overall condition is excellent. There is one small scratch on the bottom of the arm that has been touched up (see pic). It’s not visible in normal use. I also notice where a couple flecks of paint were knocked loose around the headshell connector when taken off for rewire. Again, not really visible under normal use (and easily fixed) I used this arm everyday for nearly a year. I recently purchased a FR-64S and have found that the arms are similar enough in sound that I can’t justify keeping them both.
