Up for auction is a Denon DR-M33 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch rollers.- Lubricated the capstan/motor shafts.- Replaced the belt and idler tire, adjusted the speed, W&F 0.055% to 0.065%. - Adjusted the playback/record heads for correct azimuth.- Replaced the audio path capacitors using Elna Silmic II audio caps.- Increased the playback amplifier power supply filter caps from 47uF to 220uF.- Cleaned the potentiometers using deoxit D5. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels using TDK D/SA/MA-X tapes. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, counter memory, bias fine, headphones, dolby B/C, MPX. The performance is excellent, the sound is warm, the bass is deep, the mid/highs crystal clear with wide stereo image in both modes (play/record). The deck is in very good to excellent condition, considering the age (see the pictures). This is a 120V model, S/N 7330598. With the deck are included the old parts. All the questions are very welcome. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter, CR-7 test unit, 1000ZXL test unit). Up for auction is a high serial number Nakamichi BX-300 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch rollers. - Checked the heads under microscope, they are in excellent condition. - Adjusted the playback and record heads for correct height and azimuth. - De-carbonized the reel and cam motors. - Replaced the back tension belt and cleaned the capstan belt, checked the motor speed, W&F is 0.025% to 0.030%. - Upgraded the idler tire to gear idler. - Lubricated the transport mechanism. - Installed an illuminated backplate cover into the cassette compartment (took it from a DR-3). - Replaced the electrolytic caps using Elna Silmic II in the audio circuit section, United (Nippon) Chemicon caps in the logic circuit and Nichicon FG/FW in the power supply sections. - Replaced the orange PP caps using Wima PP caps. - Increased the value of the +12V power supply filter cap from 4700uF to 6800uF and -12V from 470uF to 1000uF. - Increased the value of the eight Dolby power supply filter caps from 100uF to 470uF each. - Increased the value of the playback amp power supply filter cap from 100uF to 470uF. - Increased the value of the record amp power supply filter caps from 10uF to 100uF. - Upgraded the 1uF electrolytic caps in the audio path using Wima film caps and added in parallel with the 10uF electrolytic caps 0.47uF Wima film caps. - Cleaned the potentiometers using deoxit D5. - Replaced the bad bias fine potentiometer. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels and bias using TDK D/SA/MA-X tapes. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, timer, dolby b & c, pitch control, bias fine, auto repeat. The sound and the stereo image are great, the bass is tight, the vocals are very defined, the high frequencies are crystal clear, both in playback and recording modes. The cassette mechanism runs smoothly. Externally the deck is in almost excellent condition. This is a 120V model, S/N 53480, production date 1987. With the deck are included the old parts and the original owners manual. All the questions are very welcome. Das Gerät wurde von mir umfassend modifiziert= KlangtuningDie meisten Elkos gegen neue Elna Silmic II Kondensatoren gewechselt (aufmerksamen Beobachtern wird nicht entgangen sein,das bei den meisten Modifikationen,die hier bei eBay angeb.(z.B. für Atoll) mit Panasonic FC/Fm Kondensatoren angeboten werden.Ich verwende diese Elkos nicht.Die Klangsteigerung,die mit den Elna´s erreicht werden kann,ist faszinierend besser.Natürlich sind sie auch teurer.) Im Netzteil sind serienmäßig sehr gute Elna Siebelkos eingebaut,diese habe ich selbstverständlich (nach eine Kapazitätsprüfung) im Gerät belassen,gebrückt wurden sie mit 2 Shizuki MKP´Folien,hochwertige Kondensatoren. Die 2 kleineren Netzteilelkos (1000µf/65V) habe ich gegen Mundorf MLytic (Mlgo) Kondensatoren getauscht (1000µf/100V).Zahlreiche Bypässe (Bild 12) wurden von unten unter die Elkos gelötet,die sorgen u.a. für einen konstanten Stromfluss und einen feineren Klang.Als Netzkabel ist ein geschirmtes Lapp CY 110 (OFC Kupfer) Kabel (Bild 10) verbaut,siehe Foto.Der Netzstecker ist natürlich ausgefast,bitte auf Phase anschließen. Natürlich wurde das Gerät auch innen grob gereingt.Die Phono-Stage (VV) wurde von mir nicht modifiziert,da ich keinen Dreher besitzte.Sollte dies gewünscht sein ließe sich das noch nachholen.Bitte vorher -oder nach Kauf-mailen. Die Klangqualität hat sich durch die Modifikation sehr zum positiven verändert.Viel klarer,differenzierter und auch brillianter klingen Stimmen und akustische Instrumente.Der Sony erzeugt eine strukturierte Bühne,die einzelnen Instrumente sind deutlich hörbar und klar voneinander getrennt ,gleichzeitig ein harmonisches Ganzes.Der Bass ist tief und trocken,sauber konturiert.Die bei vielen Geräten auftretende Schärfe und Härte im Klangbild ist vollkommen verschwunden. Um eine Orientierung zu geben: Vom Niveau ist das Gerät sehr gut vergleichbar mit High End Einstiegsgeräten wie Creek Evo/ Atoll IN 50 und sicher besser als en Music Hall 25.2,auch vergleichbar mit der Nad Classic Serie in den 80er Jahren (z.B. 3020/ 3240....),wenn sie denn modifiziert sind. Der Ruhestrom der Endstufen ist abgeglichen.
